Underwhelming is an understatement. So basically it's just a 135i that costs 9 grand more. What a joke. Why anyone would get the M1 over a 335i (now that they're priced about the same) is beyond me.

You have to forgive him, Adjuster. He clearly didn't have the benefit of reading your review on the drive though, if the bootlid look is a deal killer, the drive won't matter so yeah, you're right - this car aint for the bootlid guy.

Hate to say it, but the 135i brakes are all bling. They totally fail at the track. The M3 brakes fit to the 1M are far superior.

But if it is a n54 long block, with a twin scroll off of a n55, then that explains that is a special M engine [S55?] application they were referring to, and at the very least the turboS are configured differently, IF there are two of them.

Where is Scott?
AFAIK, it is exactly the same as fit in the Z4sDrive35is.

I was hoping for this to be closer to what the M Coupe was than it actually is. Oh well, M Coupe for me then

That it integrated in the 135. It just supplements the alternator.

I can think of a few reasons:
1. Because it will be faster - significantly more so on a racetrack. And since this is the intended audience of the car, it's the most important one.

2. Because it will drive better - significantly better - than either the 135i or 335i. Same idea - perfect match for the target audience.

3. Because it will be rarer - much rarer. This car will keep its value very well, probably better than any current BMW. So even over 4-5 years, it will be better value than either a 135i or 335i.

I don't think your comment is stupid at all - it just means you're not in the target audience, which is perfectly ok. BMW hopes to sell a few thousand of these, which is correctly sized for the market.

I don't understand why theirs so much negative on this car. I think it's awesome that bmw make a small sports car. I thought that's what everyone want. That's for sure what I wanted. I currently own a e92 m3 and sure it's fun to drive but man feels so large and massive compared to the e46 m3. That's why I am one of those people wanted a smaller lighter sport car like the e46 or the e30 m3 to come back because that's what makes driving so fun. Especially if your tracking it.

I'm seriously there's people saying that the trunk lid looks the same as the 135. Well to my understanding alot of the components from the current m3 are simlar if not the same as the 3 series coupe.

It's so funny, because all these people are like "UGH" "FAIL" "NO" "UGLY" "OVERDONE" "WHY BMW!?!?" "WHAT'S THE POINT?" "SAME AS 135!"

I bet as soon as you see one on the road, in the flesh, you're all going to be

This car is pretty badass, I think a lot of you are being too over-critical.... You should have seen this coming, and if you did, stop whining about it.

I like it!!! I'll keep my M though.

So with my anti flame suit on, I want to go on the record to say that 1series owners should not comment on the 1m's looks because they obviously know nothing about astetics.

The 1 m has the perfect size feel of the 135, a more powerful engine, but more importantly it looks bad ass. Basically fixing everything that made me not want to buy a 135.
For many, looks are secondary to the drive...and since you're wearing protective gear, it's 'piglets' and 'aesthetics'.
