I vote m4, z06, or gtr. All are about
The same size and have great potential. If size is an issue get Another 1m and throw RB's on it for good power!

All the cars listed are either too ugly, expensive (poor value for the money), or uninteresting.
I'd go and buy the 1M back or find another one. If you can't, then an M235i would be your best choice. |

Welcome to Texas! What part are you moving to?
I sell the Alfa Romeo 4C at a dealership in Houston. PM me if you are interested in one. We also have a 2007 Exige S that would fit the bill. It is very very raw. Last edited by HOGGLIFE; 12-24-2014 at 07:52 PM.. |

Besides, you have to own at least one rear engine, rear wheel drive car in your lifetime. Oh, and VW Beetles don't count. |

Porsche = high price, expensive maintenance, costly insurance, big depreciation, and snooty snobbish dealers! BTW, the 135i can out run and out handle any standard, cheapest, 911.
Oh and Porsche owners are all idiots! Why? They bought a Porsche. |

Of all I would do the Cayman. By what I've heard from others, it is a very pure car when it comes to performance and handling. If I ever let my 1 go, the Cayman GTS or R would definitely be one of my choices

I tend to agree on a few statements..... but calling Porsche owners idiots? If I had the means I wouldn't hesitate and buy me a Cayman GTS.

I would pick up C7 Z06.
Yes, GTR can be had for $15k off at some places now which is an amazing deal, but it has been out for quite some years now. I'm sure the turbo would be a more comfortable and luxurious option, but that you can have on the side or later.

Hard to imagine I was in agreement with you earlier. I like my 1M, but to say a 135i can outrun ordinary 911 seems like you've been drinking from the wrong fountain, unless you mean a late 90's 911 running on late 90's type tires. The recs given are for USED Porsches, which don't tend to do too badly on the depreciation side; I sold my 997.1 GT3 for more than I paid for it (used). I can't see it as a DD tho, with only 3" ground clearance...

First cost, a no optioned 911 Carrera starts at $84,000. With just a couple of cosmetic features and maybe a PDK, you are over $100,000. Frankly, I don't think the typical One owner has that kind of money.
All cars depreciate, and Porsches are no exception. There aren't any shortage of them on the market. If you don't believe that, check out Cars.com where you can view the entire US inventory and deals. You'll take at least a $20K hit in a year or two depending on the options. I can drive my BMW for many years and not suffer that kind of depreciation. The BMW 135i can easily take a 911 Carrera. Last time I looked, the 911 had 320 HP and weighted about the same as the BMW. Unless Fangio is driving the Porsche, how fast you can go depends upon your level of courage. And if anyone thinks a BMW is difficult to work on or parts are expensive, then they haven't had the Porsche experience. Even if you are pretty handy, tasks you might be able to do on your BMW will be challenging on your Porsche. Porsche dealers are notorious for being a bunch of snobs, and they'll likely consider the typical BMW owner on the same level as a cockroach. BTW, have you ever met a Porsche owner? Why just seeing the expression his face at the wheel cruising down the road should be enough to keep you away. Owning a Porsche is all about phony prestige and money money money and more money. Consider this for the price of one Porsche, you could buy two M235is and probably three 135ises! Incidentally have you ever sat in or driven a Porsche? It has a cramped noisy cockpit and barely enough room in the back for your cocker spaniel. Yeah you go buy one boy! |

Hang onto your hat on this one....I would add another car to the mix. When we sold the 1M, we sold it to purchase a Tesla Model S we had placed a deposit on a year earlier. Right now you can find the Model S P85+ demonstrators for great prices. We have had the Model S since February 2013, and absolutely love the car. It is quick - very quick. I can get about 275 miles per charge if I need it. The INSTANT torque is a monster, and is not reproduceable in an Internal Combustion Car. I have owned BMW's for 30 years, many of them M cars, and have driven M3s and M6s in addition to the 1M. We still own two BMWs. But, my everyday car is the Tesla, and having lived with it day in and day out for 22 months, it is really an amazing car. Quick, Fast, and comfortable.
