Oil Filter Housing Assembly Question

Installing my OCC recently and noticed this on the oil filter housing assembly and couldnt work out what it is there for (N54) ?

Anyone with an idea for my own knowledge? I searched and found other pics of it there on newer style housings, just seems like a empty thread.

It's not part of the oil filter housing, it's part of the block. You can insert your tow hook and use it as a lift point for the motor when you do your turbos.

Ah cheers Steve... i shouldve taken a closer look with the engine cover off, didnt notice it until it was back on.
