Dash bubbling. What are my options?
Hey guys, about 6 months ago, my dash began to bubble on the passenger side by the "crease" on the dash. Slowly, but surely, it's gotten worse to the point that I'd like to see how I go about fixing this.
I tried injecting a light helping of hobby glue using a thin syringe, which didn't quite work. At this point, I suspect the foam behind the vinyl may be deteriorating, which would explain why my glue fix didn't quite help. -having a shop rewrap the dash -replacing the dash entirely Pic below for reference: Anyone want to give some insight/ideas on this? Thanks |

I have the same problem, albeit a bit worse than yours. I've elected to let it go. I could fight with my warranty and try to get it fixed, but removing and reinstalling a dashboard opens the door for countless other problems to appear, so I've decided to live with it.

If you let the car bake in the sun, with no tint and no sunshade, then yes.

Good idea, but I did try this about a month back with no luck. Held fine for a few days, but slowly went right back. |

You guys think the dash can simply be rewrapped? Curious as to if anyone has had this piece rewrapped in alcantara or some other material. |

I'd bet the dash could be re-wrapped but you'd probably have to take it to a shop that specializes in older cars and restorations. It may be the first one series they'll work on so pricing may be a guess until they get the dash off and see what's ahead of them.
You might be surprised how nice it'll turn out (if it's a good shop). I would think that there a lot of materials out there that will look better than the factory finish. I would also do the binnacle to match. Please post what you end up doing and/or how it turns out (I'm in Arizona so I'm curious - but have tinted windows and use a sun shade every day of the year if it's parked outside). |

Not sure quite yet if I'll bother fixing it, as my plan is to unload the car in a year or so for a Chevy SS or CTS-V. We'll see. -Steven |
