DSB pics after detail - new 701's and tires!

Hey all, just had a nice detail of the car's exterior finished and did an additional wax tonight so I decided to snap a few. These show the 35% tint I got a month ago as well which I think fits the car nicely and not pitch black either. Also shows the new 18" VMR 701's I got with PSS tires. Tire sizes are 235/40/18 fronts and 265/35/18 rears and theyre powdercoated satin bronze matte finish, sexy =). Let me know what you think about the lub bolt caps i have on there, theyre more of a gray but ECS didnt have ones that matched the wheels. The stock bolts actually match more with the wheels but the caps are nice n smooth, i may just remove em n save em for my winter wheels.
I didnt roll any fenders and the tires fit perfectly inside the fenders and are not stretched on the wheels. Only thing is the front tires only have a couple mm space from the strut so on hard turns and fast turns on on ramps, etc. the tire will hit the strut. Im having 5mm spacers installed this monday which will take car of that.

I noticed after the detail that I still have quite a lot of tiny little chips n road rash on my front bumper, not sure how I got so many but this obviously follows with the whole bmw fragile paint bit..I just ordered a Dr.Colorchip kit that Im going to try since this kind of thing wont be fixed with a polish so ill see how that goes. Also I still have a bit of remaining chemical residue on the hood as well as left front fender. I believe this was either from this bug n tar remover spray i used a few weeks back or just from typical bug residue n shit that stuck from the car being in the sun sometimes, etc. Any idea what could get rid of this for sure? My detailer mentioned wet sanding but i know theres alot of risk there of messin up the paint nor do I really wanna have the whole bumper/hood repainted. It really doesnt look that bad and you can only really notice the residue real up close with a light. Anyhoo, heres the pics and yes theyre not the best and theyre inside but i may take some nicer outside ones soon.

The tire edges literally fit perfectly inside the fenders, ive been over a bunch of diff speed bumps, etc. with no rubbing, in fact only times ive ever heard the fronts rub either was on a full tilt turn going 25.

Ill try n take some outside pics tomorrow.

And Im sure ill get atleast 10-20 "lower it"s so dont bother with that. I plan on doing my suspension mods in a few months perhaps. I just had several things installed along with the wheels, etc. so I need some recoup time for funds. When I do it will likely include PS springs and m3 bits, this will lower it just enough and give me a little more neg camber in the front which will make everything even more perfect

Oh and btw, I love the tires so far. Ive only put bout 60 miles on them so theyre not totally broken in yet.

in all seriousness, were you trying to go for a functional set up? what offsets did you go with? did you consider negative camber? and what about a 255 tires on a 9.5? fits just fine on a 9.5 without any stretch. have you considered how much more you're going to rub after you lower it? i hope you didn't pay more than 2k for this set up.... especially for gravity cast wheels... just sayin

satin bronze isn't a bad choice in color. I kinda like it. but i hope you know sandblasting a wheel to strip the color, messes with the integrity of the wheel. Just try not to hit too many potholes.

And I can tell you right now what is going to matter more is your front tire setup. Wider in the front = less understeer = more traction in turning/braking = moar better on track. I've run 245/35 square on Alufelgens on track multiple weekends and it is such an improvement over the lesser front tire widths. If you're drag racing that's completely different. If you're drag racing, I won't care anymore.

Do I spy your car is an automatic?

and

when you say you're having 5mm spacers "installed on monday", does that mean you are actually getting someone to put them on for you?

Sandblasting? Dont know bout that. Vmr takes their wheels and before adding any color they powdercoat them, no need for any sandblastng.

And about ur other comment, I tried 225/255 tires on another set of vmr wheels last summer, yes they were conti dw's but they were still stretched a bit, and TR recommends a 265 size tire for a 9.5" width wheel, 255 for a 9" tire. I went for a functional setup that looks badass. The tires are wide, they fit in line with the wheel edges and fit just inside the fenders, no rubbing, no problems. I already said that if and when I do my suspension mods, they will include not only mild springs for a .5-.75" drop, but also the m3 bits which will add some neg camber to the front and rear to keep from any possibility of fender rubbing. And also like I said, I havent even rolled my fenders yet because there is no need. The shop I had install them knows their shit, I asked them to roll the fenders and yet after installed the setup and measure the small gap and driving it, they decided it wasnt necessary.

Lastly, I know these wheels are not forged, they are a softer metal and I know that theres a good chance they could bend if I hit a big pothole or something. Fact is I didnt have $2500+ to spend on just wheels. I spent a while looking at all my choices including the Apex wheels, etc. I decided these would look great, and fit great as a less expensive wheel.

Are you implying anything? Or are you really trying to say its a bad thing to drive an auto and have a shop install wheels?

I do not have a jack nor am I proficient in working on cars. Id rather spend a little more money and put my trust in a reputable shop than do it myself.

So?

I'm implying that if you were so into functionality, you should take it to a track. You will get more out of the car and have a MUCH better time putting it to use if you had a 6 speed.

Buy a jack, its fun stuff. If you can't manage to install a spacer or change wheels, that's worse than just not being proficient in working on cars, thats just a basic thing you should know as a driver.

I do neither.. I drive my car as a daily driver, sometimes I kick its ass a bit, but no I dont go to a track and annihilate my tires or drag race. I find that kinda stuff's either for kids or professionals who do it for a living
