NO not at all. I saw an Alpine white 135i manual with sport pkg. black leather and heated seats a few months ago at Mwerks open house for the 1. It had the Glacier Aluminum trim and it looked great to me. I just refer the gloss black or gray poplar. ACTUALLY in the future I prefer Carbon fiber trim the most. But that will have to wait. I think it will cost at least $500 to convert the poplar to aftermarket C.F.

Wooden trim seems quite appropriate in upscale road cars. It adds to the luxury feeling. It would look very bad in a Yugo.:bs: I would run aluminum or CF in my track car. YOMV

At least $500 I agree. Real CF does not come cheap. Especially to have it properly installed so it looks like factory, and not one of those stick-on EBay kits. |

Those are great interiors. I wish that we had the choice to get extended leather on the 1 series.

I am definitely eyeing up that CF trim. I have seen some pictures where it looks really good. Now if only I can wrap my head around the price tag.

$1200 for CF trim is a bit steep. I wonder why they don't sell a complete package at a discount price?
Also someone around here mentioned getting the trim pieces in brushed aluminum. Does anyone know where to actually get that? And how much it costs? Dan |

Also, the Jaguar XK comes standard with a choice of wood finishes. It's optional on the XKR: Aston Martin V8 Vantage (and DB9 too) can be had with wood. You can also order the Porsche Boxster or Carrera with a choice of woods. If I'm not mistaken, then today's optional "Aluminum-Look" pieces on Porsches are the same as they have been in the past: not real aluminum, but plastic that has been painted to look like aluminum. I think Ferrari, being born directly of motorsport, would like to maintain a tradition of performance-oriented interiors. Their metal-gated shifters, for example, aren't the slickest and quickest in operation, but there is so much tradition behind it, and a satisfying clack-clack in the mechanism (so I've heard). It is a part of the experience of owning such a machine. Lamborghini also wants to maintain a similar mystique of no-nonsense performance machines. Then there is Pagani, a company not constrained by any such history. They blend it all: leather, carbon fiber (much more so than Ferraris short of the Enzo), machined aluminum, and wood, into perhaps the most outrageous interior of any modern sports car. Even the 2002, from which the 1-Series coupe draws some inspiration, had as available a faux wood instrument cluster. |

Nice find. That is how it should be done. I will probably go for this CF trim kit. We probably pay a little more through BMW but the dealer can do it, and we get that factory installation finish. |
