360hp tuning? Is it ok by BMW Warranty?
http://www.bmwblog.com/2010/05/25/20...er/#more-36137
It is for British models, but is there a difference to the Americanized car? It says it has a guarantee, could this chip be ok to NOT void the BMW warranty? Plus, 360HP for roughly $900, with the upcoming 1M being only 335hp, this "seems" to be completely worth it. So, what's the 1Addict opinion? is mine.

0-60 in 5.3 seconds LOL? My stock 135i was faster than that.

The 1M HP still isn't set, but I think they are going to bogey a number between 350 and 400. Don't know how it works in the UK, but they probably are doing a piggyback warranty. |

It is strange how all the German (Alpina, Hertge, ect..) or EU tuners always claim 360 Hp with a tune. And some go as high as 380 Hp with a "special" tune. While the major tuners in the states are right under the 400 Hp mark.

I think the engine can do an extra 50-60 stock, whether its done over there or over here. If you start improving the intake and exhaust, you'll get the extra 40-50 HP.

I dont think this is a bmw corporate sanctioned tune. Sounded to me the company has worked out a deal with UK BMW dealers to support the products. Similar to Dinan authorized BMW dealer here in the States. If the car break its under Dinan's warranty and not dealers. I would look over the fine prints.

This to me sounds the same as all the other flash tuners in the UK. Essentially this will still void power train warranty with BMW, the tuner is just giving you an aftermarket warranty if something goes wrong due to their chip. To me a flash based solution is still the more advanced and safer option. Advanced in that there is more control over engine parameters than a piggyback and safer in terms of an aftermarket warranty as well as the more conservative tune and engine management.
If you value power and value for money more then a piggyback is better. I have had both flash tune and piggyback. I decided to change to piggyback as I was craving more power and was willing to accept the added risks involved. My flash tuner offered complete warranty in event BMW turned down a warranty claim due to the flash. In the end which tune you go for will be based on your individual circumstances and this is in no way intended to start a tuner war. |

I am a warranty freak. However, even if I drive up to United BMW in ATL for their discounts, it still is so much more money than the aftermarket bits, and far more expensive.
Plus, it looks lime Dinan is out since there is the BMW PPK. But geesh, 20hp/30tq for $1600, that's freaking pricey.
