First time in the cold
I started the 135i yesterday (with 19F on the thermometer), and the tire sensor icon was up. Looked around, all tires seemed OK, but the pressure gauge showed 30-31 psi all around. Drove up to a gas station, brought them up to 36, and was able to reset it.
Kinda cool, actually; I never thought about tire pressure going up and down with temperature. I also noticed oil temperature never got above ~200, whereas same type of driving the day before (in ~50-55F) had it up to 230-240. Gas mileage was also down about 1 mpg. Do these cars have an oil thermostat? |

It's not just OEM tires it's summer tires in general that have issue once you get close to freezing. I read a week back or so that once it gets to -15 Celsius they lose all grip.

There is 100% most defiantly a oil cooler thermostat, it is in the housing that the oil cooler lines attach to by the filter. I have tested this by feeling the oil cooler lines with the engine running and at temp and the lines are not even warm, go drive it hard and feel tham and they are 200+ deg see item #9 in the below link http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...71&hg=11&fg=30 |
