My 2 year old 128 feels brand new.

Finally dumped RFTs for some Michelin Pilot Sport 2 A/S.

Night and day in terms of quiet and harshness. I am appreciating the 1 more and more. Those RFTs just plain sucked.

Yeah the RFT do feel pretty harsh, feels like you're driving with bricks as wheels.

Markets agree with you.

Run Flat market share is next to nothing. Michelin has given up. Eventually most tire makers are going to give up.

It will be inevitable that BMW will give up on this well intentioned poorly implemented technology.

I know after my RFT wear out, I will be getting non-RFT tires.

While I too am looking forward to replacing my RFT's when they wear out, I've heard the suspension is tuned for the RFT. Is this just BS?

I have the M-Sport package on my car and cant believe how harsh the ride is! My 06 Corvette with Z-51 and runflats is smoother and less harsh than my 135. 2 weeks ago I blew out my front left on a NYC pothole, cost over $500 for tire and alignment. I cant wait to get these things off. I'll put some good all seasons on. Anybody recommend a great handling all season tire that fits the M wheels?

If anything, the BMW boffins designed it around normal tires. I can only think of the BMW marketing executives who might have said, "We have RFT in surplus since nobody who has a choice uses them. How do we get rid of them?"

I got new tires on Monday too! Went non-RFT Hankook Ventus V12 225/45R17 all around and so far they are great. Can't beat $600 for all four, including installation and 4 wheel alignment.
There is less harshness, especially over bigger bumps and the tires are whisper quiet. I will wait until I put 300 miles on them before I take the car through some twisties. Can't wait.

Yes, town fair tire. I heard mostly good things about them but also came across a couple of negative reviews. I guess it depends on each specific store - my experience was positive. Plus all the extras - free flat repair, free rotations (on all cars in the family), 30-day test drive..

When was that? Tire Rack indicates that the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP is still among the OEM tires on the SP equipped 2011 335i.

Seems like the narrow depth of our tires doesn't help out the RFT tires.

How are you liking these tires? I have these sitting in my garage, mounted on some Breyton GTS-Rs, waiting for my 135i to come home on the 30th.

I assume the ride quality is better, but what about the handling dynamics? Steering response, turn in, traction at the limit? How do these compare to the run-flats in these categories?

I sometimes regret getting A/S tires vs. a Summer Tire because I am worried I might have compromised on the performance...but I can't get stuck again in the snow like last winter, and I don't want/need to buy a winter setup.

Doesn't mean it is well accepted by the market. Google Michelin PAX or look at the Wikipedia article on Run Flat Tires. It's an eye opener!

I went from 17" with runflats to 18" non-runflats and the ride improved despite the shorter sidewalls.

I just checked their website, it says:
We're sorry, Michelin does not currently manufacture tires fitting this vehicle's specifications.

Original Equipment

[Front] 215/40R18 85Y [Rear] 245/35R18 88Y

Which sizes did you buy?
