I am heading out again tomorrow night but really dont get the way in which the lane/group is selected.
It appears that I am always in lane 2 with the riced up sh*tboxes and P-platers. What I would prefer would be to go up against some V8s etc. I dont really care about ETs anymore, I just want to annoy some bogans. So, to those in the know, when I am getting scrutineered, should I just ask the guy to put me in with the V8s (usually lane 3 or 4) or is there some method that they follow that just isnt apparent to me? |

It doesn't matter what you do, you're going to get 3 or 4 runs on the night.
Occasionally if you get there early (you are amongst the first half a dozen cars) and it's a slow day you can get 2 or 3 run in during the first hour and then you'll end up with 6 or 7 passes on the night. Wednesday street meet is a 3 or 4 pass expectation. You can get more passes in on a private track day than years of street meets.

If you go every week and the ANDRA/WSID officials get to know you, and your car can compete with the V8s, they will start to allow you into the other lanes, especially if you have an ANDRA licence and your own race number.

Smarty pants young blokes with late model high tech BMW turbos are not their favourite thing, especially if their rig is quicker than commodore or Falcon V8.

I am not a class warrior or snob btw so I hope I didnt come across like that. Its just that I get routinely tailgated/provoked by the CBBB (ChevyBadgeBoganBrigade) when I am just driving to the shops or just generally minding my own business (might be the black wheels that set them off). So I find it frustrating that when we can legally race our cars, they dont want to.
Anyway, I will be there tomorrow night and I will keep an eye out for anyone else thinking of coming along. |

Installed a set of OEM Style 262 17" wheels and just got some Toyo R888s on the rears.
They look like shit but I kind of like the sleeper/stock like appearance. If they provide a decent performance improvement I might get them powder coated a gunmetal colour. The overall diameter has gone from 635.50mm to 619.76mm. The weight reduction of combined wheel + tyre compared to my 18" setup is: Front - 0.4kg per corner Rear - 2.58kg per corner I was intending to get some Apex wheels and put 275s on but that will have to wait - have way too many other priorities at the moment. I am going out to WSID on Wednesday (weather supposed to be good) so hopefully there will be some decent improvements in my 60' and ET. |

Haha. If I was only after 11s I would have had meth installed already.
I'm mostly interested in getting a better launch as I'm getting a bit worried that I am just too unco to get a decent one. |

This only cost me a couple hundred bucks and will be a bit of fun. It already feels much better to drive with 17"s and basically any tyre that isnt a pile of shite Neova AD08. I also usually dont have anyone else with me when I go to the drags so changing wheels when I am there just isnt an option i.e. cant have someone mind my street wheels. |

OR I have mates who get to WSID early, get a pit spot next to a pole and chain their street tyres to the pole. I hear you about going alone all the time, much more fun with someone else who has the bug going each week, whether they race their car or not.

It could be that they lose their grip after a few heat cycles but they never really had that much grip in the first place. I could never mash the pedal to get off the line or even when moving, I would just get wheelspin. With the R888s and 17's I have way more traction than before even though I am down 20mm on tyre width. Wednesday night will be a good test to see if it was the AD08s or my skills that have resulted in poor 60' times; I have a good feeling its the former. |

What about for circuit work? I don't mind if ultimate grip isn't super high, but just want them to be able to cope with a couple of laps without overheating and going greasy like normal road tyres do. |
