Give them around some 15 years to make the USB standard... that's how long BMW took to make the CD player standard in the OEM HU.

Not exactly... it is the same HiFi system standard as pre-MY2009 but now with 8 speakers instead of 10 before (rear tweeters were deleted).

What is this?
The Sat antenna and its cable. The whole HU has to be replaced if you want Sirius unless you order it from factory, and that's only if there is a MOST device in the car (Assist, USB or Harman Kardon).

I have no idea why of the MOST requirement for Sirius retrofit.

Why would you want it to work with the key off? It is a huge security risk allowing it to work with the key off and the car parked out side. It like leaving a house key on the seat.

You'd think the they put those in. Heck, you could leave the CD out and put the USB in.

I don't park outside. That's what I use my garage for. I use the garage door opener to open the garage and pull my car in. I usually shut off the engine before the door has completed its travel. Still have the key in the car and power to the interior of the car, but can't close the garage at that point. My wife's universal garage door opener still works at that point, but not if the key is removed from the car. Don't see that as a security risk even if you do park outside.

ambient lighting? There's not too many spots 1 series have for amb lighting, for example like in the door panels. Wonder how much bmw want to charge for adding 2-3 leds...

Thanks Technic.

The standard system that comes with my e90 '09 is decent.
I read that the standard system that comes with the current 135i is horrible.

If the HiFi is comparable to my e90, then I may not order the HK option.

Does anybody have insight on this?

I see. I've always liked my MB because it doesn't work without the key. However, it does work until the key is removed. I don't leave it outside much either, but on the occasion that I do, it is nice to know you can't open the house.

I always close the door with the wall switch. I'm a little paranoid and check the back to make sure I'm in far enough before closing it.

There are lots of differences between this document, and the options listed on the "Vehicle Inquiry Report" that I got when I put my deposit down. There are about 15 options listed here that aren't on the VIR, but not listed here are 6NF (Smartphone Int), 313 (power folding mirrors), 442 (cupholders), and a few others. Seems weird to me that they wouldn't offer Smartphone Integration... I'm hoping this list is incomplete Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I was also mildly hoping for the new (march 2011+) 6NR which would allow streaming of web content through the new iphone app (I think that's what it does). Might be cool, even if it's not very useful.

Yeah that's the APP option. Shows on the German option sheet but not US. All 1's are supposed to have this so I can't imagine the "top of the line" won't. Plus MINI has it here in the US so there really is no excuse to keep it from us.

That's what I usually wind up doing too, but when temps are below freezing, I like to close it right away. Probably more of a problem here in CT than in TN

My thought exactly. But, I see so many black on black cars in Houston. I guess the owners only park in a covered garage. I used to have to park all day in surface lots. When I opened the door to my car, the air was so hot my glasses would fog.

This is going to be one sweet car for the few lucky buyers.

I imagine in the next couple years 6FL will be standard. I remember when the CD player in-dash was a $200 option. Cassette deck was standard.

Occasionally I'll get a request for a 6-disc changer. The auxiliary input is standard equipment at least. Xenon's are too which is cool.

693- is the wiring harness installed at the factory for satellite radio to be installed as an aftermarket accessory. If you are on the fence about the sat radio (655), get it. It's twice as expensive to install sat radio at the dealer as an aftermarket accessory. Cost on 655 is $320.
