^ Who advised you of this and when?

MEVD172 is the ECU Cobb support and MEVD 1726 is the newer style ECU they don't have support for as per my email to Jared from Cobb last week.

That's correct, but the MEVD1726 came out mid year of 2012. We can support *most* 2012's, but you would need to PM me the last 7 digits of your VIN to verify which DME you have.

Josh,

are you familiar with code P3106? My car consistently throws P0420 and P3106 while running stage 1+. I recently loaded stage 2+ so i am not sure if the codes will come back. Also, I believe both are codes that the Accesport auto clears when running the stage 2+ map, but not 100% sure.

I have found plenty of information on P0420, but I can find very little on P3106.

in case it helps, 2011 DCT, catless dp, fmic, afe drop in filter.

dealerships over here are updating dme`s at the moment on the n55 models which can still be flashed so that they can`t be flashed anymore.

Those are both codes for Catalyst efficiency (just reported in 2 different ways). If you're running a catless DP with anything less than Stage2, you will get these codes.

Hi all,

Does anyone know what sensors provide the "Charge Air Temp" (TMAP on charge pipe I assume) and "Air Temp TB" value on the Cobb logging system for the N54? I've got an issue where the Charge Air Temp is always sitting at -53.05F(both in log and live monitoring) indicating a bad sensor however my Air Temp TB seems to operate fine and usually fluctuates around the low 90'sF. Log linked however Air Temp TB is not present on it. I assume they come from different sensors unless it's a software issue, interestingly though this does not cause any errors or fault codes with the car. Does anybody know if this parameter can be verified with INPA? Cheers for any assistance.

I think you've correctly diagnosed the problem- a faulty TMAP.

Apparently I have one that could be either. Is there a way to visually check which DME is in the car before I buy? or am I relegated to pulling the trigger and hoping for the best?

Two ways. 1 is to simply email Cobb support your VIN and they will tell you. Another method is a bit more involved. Here is what the Cobb guys explained to me about my own vehicle. Might be able to follow the process for your own.

Quote:
The easiest way to confirm which ECU you have and whether Cobb have support for you is to visit this site:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do?vin=

Plug in the last 7 of your VIN number under "Serial number", click search, it will then auto-fill your build date, then click browse parts. Click "Switch to Images Drill Down" and then click on "Engine Electrical System". You'll then see both ECU types under "Control Units". The one on the left, the MEVD172 is the ECU Cobb support, the one on the right, the MEVD1726, is the newer style ECU Cobb don't have support for.

If you click on the 172 or 1726, you'll either see "no parts found matching your car", or, it will list part numbers, etc, meaning that is the ECU your vehicle has.
Good luck.

P.S. Cobb guys, can't wait for MEVD1726 support. I'm ready to pounce on your V3 AP, Intercooler and a PTF E-Tune!

Well, real OEM shows an 03/12 build and links to MEVD1726… balls.

I'd really like to physically confirm this though. Its there an ID tag on the ECU?

I got a data log of the thing while it broke up. It is a 2nd gear pull to 6000rpms and shift to 3rd pull to the break up. In third gear I noticed that it is overboosting to 21.93 and pulling timing there in the pull. I thought that the max boost was supposed to be around 18.5?

I highlighted the boost pressure right where it exceeds 18.5 which is also where it breaks up. Right around there the TPS starts shutting as well. Any thoughts?
