What is this cover?

Hi Everyone

I just got a used 2012 135i and I found this thing in the trunk but I have no idea what it is.

Does anyone know and where it goes?

It appears to hook onto something as the back has 2 hooks.

Thanks

The hooks grab the underside of the front bumper cover. Screws hold the bracket in place. Most people use double sided tape or velcro instead of this bracket and screws.

I even opted for the tow-hook plate kit so i didnt even have to deal with the cheap plate bracket. I would have picked a different kit than i did knowing what i know now, but its better than screw holes in the bumper!!

I got this one and its a little cheesey. I ended up adjusting how the plate fit on the brackets and it looks a little better, but the whole washer-stack and giant securing nut looks a little cheap. There are better options, but you pay for it.

Thanks for the info everyone

I went with the RHO Plate because I need it right away and luckily I was able to source it distributor locally on day that I need it. These kits are expensive.
