Hi Justin, I'm waiting on a couple responses from the US to make my final decision. My priorities are firstly the best cooling solution available and secondly price.

You must hate me for asking all of the questions but looking back through the last few pages I noticed you were using the Earl cores which were 19 and 25 row, then you switched to Setrab cores which are 15 and 20 row.

This includes all the associated components and the necessary hardware (brackets etc.) to install the kit.

- PWR "Street/Track" radiator, $870.00
This includes the ALL aluminium radiator and the necessary quantity of "Waterwetter" or "MoCOOL".

- Installation cost, $500.00

Guys please note,

the above prices are inclusive of GST, but exclusive of any shipping costs.

Lastly there is no shroud available at the moment.

I will speak to Pete tomorrow and see what he thinks about the use of a shroud.

The prices for buying the oil cooler alone dropped by $475 for Stage 1 and $275 for Stage 2. Is this correct? I assumed the savings would be greater for the more expensive version, ie. the other way around.

Also the prices of the "complete cooling solution" for stage 1 and 2 remained the same price and the savings were not passed on.

I'm not sure if this was a mistake or not but it works out to be $800 for a radiator and that seems very expensive, GB or not.

According to your price drop, I think the revised pricing should be $1170 for Stage 1 and $1520 for Stage 2 if my sums are correct. Feel free to correct me otherwise though. However, in this instance I think the Stage 2 should benefit from more discount than Stage 1, if that makes sense.

Also, can you confirm if the price is inclusive of the external thermostat?

Lastly, do you know of the estimated postage costs to Brisbane?

You'll get a faster response by picking up the phone and calling Peter directly to talk through the various options, postage estimates etc.

Hey mate,

to be honest I do not think I could help you with an installer in Darwin, I can't say I have ever ventured out to that neck of the woods.

That being said our oil cooler kits are not terribly difficult to install.

Yes,

it will take the average DIY guy quite a few hours, but it's not anywhere near as demanding as the Stett Stage 2 kit that was in my car.

Peter uses "Couriers Please" for non-international shipping.

At the moment I do not have access to their online quoting system, but Pete said that $50 should cover the shipping costs to Darwin, for both radiator and oil cooler.

Cheers,

JD.

Hey pavo,

with regards workshop labour, we have allowed around 2.5 hours for the installation of the rad' or either of the oil cooler kits.

FYI guys,

Whilst Peter has recently increased workshop labour rates, the fitment cost for the "Complete Cooling Solution" will remain at $500.00 inclusive of GST.

To install individually the PWR MT rad' or either of the oil cooler kits, the labour cost is $300.00 inc.GST

Cheers.

Hey mate,

the pricing you have referenced in the first quote was pre-group buy.

The reason we switched from the Earl's oil coolers to that of the Setrab, was purely to optimise mounting location to ensure maximum core efficiency.

In short the Setrab cores will see more airflow than the Earl's cores, as a result of the 135i front bar design.

FYI,

the difference in cost price between the respective Stage 1 & Stage 2 Earl's and Setrab cores, is not significant at all.

The figures from the second quote for the "Complete Cooling Solution" were group buy prices.

Finally the reduction in Stage 1 pricing in the third quote, was as a result of retaining the BMW OE thermostat and not using the MOCAL external stat', as found in the Stage 2 kit.

The use of the OE thermostat also reduces that number of Earl's fittings required and it also negates the use of the billet aluminium bypass/adapter plate, that is fitted to the oil filter housing in our Stage 2 kit.

Yes,

the cost of the PWR MT 5970 rad' is indeed $795.00 based on a GB with a minimum order of 5.

The PWR rad' retails for $808.50, shipping costs are $33 from the Gold Coast to Auburn and the 500 ml Motul MoCOOL we are supplying with every rad' is worth $43.99, with a total of $885.49 the GB price on the rad' is equivalent to a saving of around $90.

Lastly as per my explanation above the Stage 2 kit was not subject to a price revision, as there were no components deleted from the kit.

Whilst we did go from a 25 row Earl's core to a 20 row Setrab, our cost price for the two coolers is pretty much the same.

Yes,

the Stage 2 kit pricing is inclusive of the Mocal external thermostat.

Shipping to Brisbane for the complete kit will be about $35.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks for explaining that Justin.

I was hoping that you may possibly have made an error in your sums so I could save a few dollars

You can put me down for a Stage 2 Oil Cooler. I'll maybe consider the radiator later down the track. I'm spending too much money on this car!

Hey Gumball,

Peter has allowed 2.5 hours for the installation of the Stage 1 oil cooler kit.

Whilst workshop labour rates have recently increased by a small amount, we will still honour our fixed install cost of $300 inclusive of GST.

Thanks for the detailed reply mate. Appreciate it.

I want the Stage 2 kit, but want to make sure I can find someone decent. Having dinner with the mechanic shop owner tomorrow so will ask if they are willing to fit.

Is it a hard job or fairly straight-forward? Very apprehensive about letting Darwin fiddle with my car.

Sure, no problem at all.

It really is not that difficult to install our oil cooler kits.

One of our design goals was to ensure the DIY guy, could fit the kit in their driveway or garage.

As we are looking to export these kits to the US and Europe, we did not want the online shopper to have to line up an automotive hoist, just to install either kit.

As I mentioned before we would be more than happy to put a DIY installation guide together, once we have a few confirmed orders.

I will add you to the GB list for a Stage 2 oil cooler kit.

Thanks again for your order.

Cheers,

JD.

Is it only Stage 1 that doesn't require removing the front bumper or Stage 2 as well?

I'll call Pete tomorrow or Monday as well

Do you recommend the stage 1 or 2 cooler for my setup (track use and drags)?

Hey mate,

our oil cooler kits do not require the removal of the front bar.

The oil cooler bracket we have designed and mounting location, allows for ease of installation.

The singular bracket is universal to both Stage 1 (15 row) & Stage 2 (20 row) cores.

Pete is usually quite busy on a Saturday, if you want to have a good chat regarding the Meth' tank, I suggest calling him on Monday.

Cheers,

JD.

Hi Gumball,

if you only intended to use your 1'er on the street or at the drag strip, the Stage 1 oil cooler will be more than adequate.

However if you intend on tracking the car I would certainly recommend the use of our Stage 2 kit, that incorporates the MOCAL external thermostat with an operating temp of 82 degrees Celsius.

Cheers.

I spoke to Pete today. He gave me a lot of time which was appreciated as I know he's a busy person. He answered all the questions I had. Not too many workshops take that much time out to do that for their customers. The impression I got was that they're combining their extensive workshop experience and doing their own in-house R&D to make some high quality parts for our cars, with no short cuts. I look forward to getting my meth tank and oil cooler in the future too. I can see why the Sydney boys all go to Advan now

Hi Justin is Advan planning on building a twin oil cooler kit later down the track?

I came across Pete's build thread and he has it listed as Stage 4.

Do you have any info on this? Will it function the same was as the ER dual core?

Hey Vinney,

the twin oil cooler setup is specifically for the 335i.

The design of the front bar prevents us from installing a Setrab "Extra Wide" core without deleting the fog lights, which is not something we wish to do.

As such we will be using an oil cooler on either side of the front bar, which will have approximately half the volume of our 1 Series Stage 2 (20 row) unit.

The dual core setup for the 3 Series may have a total core volume which is greater than our 135i Stage 2 cooler, but it will not be super significant.

I do not have any further details on the 335i kits at this time, but as soon as Pete makes a start on the kits, I will have more information.

Cheers,

JD.
