I would like the extra cooling for track use.

Makes sense to me. Like I said earlier I think its a good idea to get the cooling kit even if you aren't going to run the flash. Especially if you live in a hot climate.

I'm interested in what the badge looks like. I know the previous kit had something under the hood but this sounds like something that's going to be visible and encourage a lot more knuckleheads to rev their engines at red lights.

Garage List
You get:
1. New electric fan
2. New spark plugs
3. New radiator hoses
4. Secondary radiator
5. New DME

Note:The 1 Series Power Kit also requires the installation of the BMW Performance Air Duct Kit.

http://www.bmwblog.com/2010/06/17/bm...mance-package/

Question is, would you benefit more from a 2nd oil cooler or the radiator? Also, adding a good FMIC would help...these are my plans

That's the old kit. The new retrofit kit due out this month is just a software tweak with black kidney grilles, a badge and (if needed) a new DME thrown in.

One of the forum members heard from a service advisor that it will be available for the N54. We're just waiting on pricing and availability date.

Unfortunately not yet. I'm hoping to hear something soon and when I do I'll make sure to let everyone know.

I reside in Singapore and was told by my SA to be down for some event on the 1st of Sept. He can't disclose anything on pricing yet though. Will update you guys as I get more news! It will most definitely be more costly here than in the states!

So let me get this straight. I take my 1 in for a HPFP. They make a software update that effectivly detunes my car. Now I have to pay $500+ for a sw update that will "increase" my h.p. by MAYBE 20hp? Total Fail by BMW.

And the grille and badge! =b
Honestly, my car got the new software and it has been just as responsive to throttle as it used to be.

Explain 320-350!!!!! 320 is NOT equal to 350. and you will be lucky if you got 320 wheel hp on the dyno with this kit.. BMW is doing the impossible to cover the HPFP plague..

Easy Ash83. Lol. When I say I would be happy with 320-350 hp what I mean is if I do the Power Kit Retrofit and it adds the 20hp and 32ft lbs of torque and I decide thats all I want to do in the way of performance mods I would be happy with that. I might decide to go a different way with the performance mods and end up with 350hp and I would be happy with that as well. I never said they were the same and I'm fully aware that they are not.

BMW is not trying to cover up any HPFP issues. This is part of a press release from BMW:

The BMW Performance Edition brings more horsepower, more torque and unlimited exhilaration to your Ultimate Driving Machine.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - July 20… Performance breeds excitement and the BMW Performance Edition for the 2011 335i / xDrive Sedan ensures that new car buyers are in for that extra thrill beyond the outstanding performance that can already be realized with these exciting vehicles. Customers can now option their vehicles with a special BMW Performance Edition (option code ZMZ) that includes an all-new Power Kit, black kidney grilles and a “BMW Performance Edition” badge for only $550.

The BMW Performance Edition for the 335i highlights a Power Kit which consists of engine tuning software (no additional hardware):

Increases the engine power output from 300 hp to 320hp and torque from 300 lb ft to 317 / 332 lb ft (manual / automatic transmission); this is the same horsepower rating as the 335is!

Acceleration from 0-60 mph is 0.2 seconds faster than the standard model and 0.5 seconds faster than the standard model from 50 mph to 75 mph.

They are offering a retrofit of option code ZMZ to owners of the 1 and 3 series in case they are interested in getting a little more HP with the piece of mind that it doesn't affect your warranty . Thats what I'm talking about. This is not a fix for any issues.

Just to clarify, I mean the "recall" software update not the software as part of ZMZ.
The car isn't worse, it isn't quite better either. The shifting is much smoother but the exhaust note isn't as loud as before.
