I knew which one you were talking about.

Looking at some of this thread I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Cobb tuner. I have it on mine, it's a great upgrade for the price especially since it's only about 200$ more than what was mentioned for the BMW coding and such. More power, no coding involved, you can install/uninstall/enable/disable it whenever you need to, has valet mod, error code checking ... etc, etc ,etc.

The Cobb definitely has it's share of advantages. But, I suspect there's many folks out there like me who like the idea of a genuine BMW upgrade that's going to be fully supported by any dealership. The idea of downloading software from the Internet and installing it into my expensive (to me) daily driver makes me a little nervous. Maybe I'll try it someday when I have another car and the 135 is just a weekend toy.

By the way August is almost over and still no word on pricing or availability. Did I miss something?

Unfortunately there is still no word yet. If I don't hear something by the end of the week I'm going to email my rep again and see whats going on.

Aussie Dealers are already offering it. Got a call from my Sales guys last week and he's given me a copy of the dealer sheet - including pricing - but I can't post it because it's got his name all over it and I don't want to get him in trouble...

What I can say is that BMW Australia are offering the Stage 2 upgrade for the price of the Stage 1 upgrade until December 31st - ONLY on N54 equipped models...

Its is the same thing minus the air ducts and cooling fans. It is the flash, grills and trunk badge.

Stage 1 is the software only. Stage 2 listed below:

It's the same software update for both but BMW state that if you're gonna track the car it needs stage 2 - effectively adding better cooling to handle "prolonged higher temps"...

I looked the part numbers up on realoem.com. Stage 1 is an ecu update only and stage 2 comes with extra cooling hardware.

I would get the Power Kit if you are going to track the car since you get extra parts for cooling. If your not going to track it I would say the flash would be just fine. I'm just doing the flash on mine since I don't track my car at all.

Has there been any word on price in the US for just Stage 1 (ECU flash only)?

I remember reading around $500, but wasn't sure...

  1. It's an internal BMW memo - not for distribution so he probably shouldn't have given it to me.
  2. As i stated in my post: this scan has a watermark with my sales guy's name on it and I don't want to get him in trouble.
  3. You can see the blurry bits where I've had to photoshop out his details.
  4. I didn't think the Australian prices were relevant to you guys in the US.
  5. If you don't want the info, don't read the thread.
