255/40/17?

I'm planing on getting a custom set of wheels made in 17x9.5 et60 is there any reason why that size tire wouldn't work

The front & rear Strut clearances may have issues. You may have to adjust the Offset
See APEX wheel fitment photos inside the wheel well. I recall the Apex touch the front strut on a lift but are fine on the road.

PS: are you talking about Forgestar's?

Well I would be going with a staggered setup I won't be doing that in the front . I was just referring to the rear . And yes them or ccw

Should work, you could probably fit a wider tyre on that wheel though.
What were you thinking for the front?
17x8.5 et40?

Either that or et45 I basically just want to copy apex but I just want a fatter looking tire I love the look so that's y I would need 17s

I fit a 245 on an unideal size and offset wheel in all four corners on stock suspension. I know for a fact that people have fit 255 star specs with some work. It should be doable

It should work. I was thinking about doing the same thing with Forgestar. The EVO/STi guys run 255/40 on 17x9.5 all the time in SCCA.

If you only want to run 255/40/17 in Star spec, ET50 offset is probably enough depending on camber (Especially if we assume its a track setup).

I'm not sure there is much benefit to go to ET60.

Well it will be a r compound tire so I will need more clearance than a normal street tire

True, but that high an offset will rub the strut in the front.

I don't plan on running that in the front only the rear . I already know what I will go with in the front 17x8.5 et 40 or 45

I've seen a few guys here already run 17x8.5 et40 so camber and all that might be needed depending on the tire size. which is why i got a different offset than a 40

I would go with et40. ET45 is very close to the strut and will foul with some coilovers.

I don't know about brake clearance for 17", but the tires should fit the rear fine with 17x9.5 et60.

I have no rubbing with PSS 275/35/18 on Apex Arc-8 18x9.5 et62, or et57 using 5mm spacers as in this photo. No rubbing in either case.

How close are your brakes to the inside of the rim

I have my winter wheels on now, so cannot check the brakes. However, the 128i brakes are smaller than the 135i.

Brake clearance is fine for most 17" wheels
