Enkei Lusso 18's w/Conti Extreme Contact

Put these on last night...love the traditional BBS-style spokes with lots of room for big brakes...the polished outer rim is gorgeous...the picture doesn't do it justice....they felt at least 10-12 lbs lighter than the stock 17's with heavy run-flats....BMW center caps snapped right in....NO pain-in-the-a$$ hub rings...offset @ 40 is perfect for an 8" wheel....Tire Rack balance is perfect, and the car didn't go 20 feet before it picked up the TPMS sensors...now the best part: those Continental tire are beyond superb, and I haven't even scrubbed off all the mold release gunk yet. I love the handling of this car...simply amazing, what does BMW know about steering that other manufacturers haven't figured out yet?? A guy is bugging me for the M roadster; I think I'll let it go....I can definitely live with just this little hot rod...especially when I get the big brakes on it.

Yeah, it would look better with some lowering, but it's not going to get it....this is the best handling car I've ever owned...good, but no cigar: the M roadster, and a 92 300Z twinturbo with HICAS 4-wheel steering, also an RX-7 turbo....I will be adding Bilsteins in the future, just to firm it up a touch....I might drop it slightly at that time, we'll see.

I really wish tire rack had more staggered wheel offerings. I just got my winter wheels from them, and in the spring I'd like to get some new wheels/summer tires, but most of their selection for 1-series is same width front and rear. Seems like apex or vmr are the only real alternatives, but I'd like to find someone who sells packages with tires/wheels/tpms fully balanced at Tirerack's prices

I think your car looks great, but those wheels weigh pretty close to your stock wheels (22.5 LB at TR). You really only lost weight (~5 LB per wheel) by going with the non-RF Conti's, of course that is still a decent amount of weight to lose. Congrats on your purchase!

I am leaning towards switching to the same Conti's as well when my RF wear out.

+1. Exactly. I'd be standing in line with credit card to buy a complete package of Apex wheels, TPMS sensors & summer tires nicely mounted & balanced from Tire Rack. Serious business. Are you listening Gill? Spring will be here before you know it.

Sorry, not intending to 'jack the OP's thread, Enkei is a great wheel and your setup looks superb!

The Enkei's weigh 22.5 according to Tire Rack & Enkei's website.

The Conti's weigh 20lbs in my size (Tire Rack's spec page).

I weighed the stock wheel/tire when I sold and shipped them: 54 lbs.

So that's 11.5 lbs each...but it feels like a lot more...it reminds me of the Formula Ford I had in the late 80's...you had to really throw it to break it loose.

Well according to BMW, 17" MSport wheels are 22.4-22.5 LB each and the 17" stock Goodyear's are 26 LB per tire (according to Tirerack), so stock by mfg specs would weigh 48.5 LB per wheel. I am surprised you got 54 LB per wheel. Did you weigh your Enkei wheel package on the same scale when you got it?

My stock wheels were Star spoke 17's, don't know what they weigh, but they look heavier than Msports. I rechecked the UPS shipping log, the weight of each was posted as 53 lbs, not 54...I trust the digital scale we use for shipping....but here's the thing, I picked each wheel up at least 4 times, the difference was easily discernible, almost shocking...picking up the stock setup felt like the Enkei set with 2 bricks taped to it....imagine, you're driving around with 2 bricks duct-taped to each of your wheels...

I believe the factory Style 262 weights are listed around 22 LB as well, so something is off here. Maybe the Enkei wheels weigh less than what is posted on TR? If you look at the specs, your only loss would have been with the tires, so I am not sure why the shipped weight is so high.
