How hot is your 1 series?

I wanted to put this up yesterday, but there was something wrong with the forums all evening, overnight and this morning (anyone else?) and I couldn't post a new message.

Anyway, this was taken yesterday afternoon in Perth while I was stopped at the traffic lights on the way home:

So, how hot have you got?

Simon....

I saw 43 on my car last week.

Does anybody else reckon that the aircon in their 1er is very shit or is it just because my car is hotter because of the cloth top?
I had to drive Kevs 4 wheel drive to work last week because my car is too hot inside when it is over 30.

I don't have a problem with the air con, rarely have to have it below 23 degrees and rarely have it higher than the 4th fan bar.

Problem I do have, is my wife complaining she can never aim the pssenger side vent towards her!

How do i chack the aircon settings?? I have mine on 16 and the air blasting on full and its crap!!!! Then i get in kevs car and its like getting in a fridge compared to mine!!
Plus his is icy cold in a few mins of getting in the car, mine takes about 30 mins to get cool, not icy but cool.

It sux, one would think that the BMW would have a much better aircon than the Toyota.

I took this last year during the heatwave in Melbourne. I was parked just outside the Epworth Hospital in Richmond, this was while car was running so I saw it climb from 47-48-49 then this for about 2 minutes

As I look out my office window at the snow storm currently ramping up, I'm envious.

I am glad I was hiding in the house today. My air con works quite well, the vert might takes longer to cool down?

Your oil temp is low considering how hot it is outside ?

Jeez, I've been reading how hot it's been in Perth and I'm thinking of my wife's poor car baking in the sun in the airport carpark.

The 'climate' tab on the iDrive. Make sure the airflow is set to 'intense' and not 'soft'.

The 1er soft top offers great insulation so it shouldn't be an issue.

your air con is out of gas, it needs regassing and/or a leak sealing under warranty.

I drove my vert through Sydney last summer when temps got to 40+ and I was comfortable. I am particularly sensitive to heat coming from Tassie and my vert was surprisingly cool. BUT I couldn't drive with the roof off because it was too hot.

I reckon that's the case for the driver too. I just can't get the vents to go in a reasonable place. Almost like it's still configured for priority for LHD units.

It was probably only 10 minutes after setting off, so that's why the oil temp's till down.

Yup, baking is one word I'd use for it. Melting is another! Hope you're somewhere nice. It's overcast here this morning, with 'the chance of a thundery shower', but it's over 30c already at 7:30am.

Thanks everyone!

Simon....

yep, saw 47 while driving on the freeway last week.
I've seen 54 in a car before, though that was because it was a black car parked in an unshaded tarmac carpark in the middle of summer
