Talking Video: Track Day at Homestead with NASA 3/24/2012

Here's a video from this weekend (3/23-24/2013) at Homestead-Miami Speedway with NASA. Running stockish boost the second day, because the first day was essentially a throw away, troubleshooting a 30FF (Underboost) condition. Finally found the issue, Forge diverter valve hose (connecting to charge pipe) had a micro-crack that opened up on the back side. Hard to find, fixed it after the fist day, but decided to run stockish boost to not force things. I say stockish because it was around 10-11 PSI to run some 50/50 water/meth for cooling (not power), it was hot 86-92 degrees this weekend and humid.

Anyways, the video plus some pictures with the new Apex EC-7 9.5 all around (fitment is perfect) with Hankook TD's 265/35/18 (they're almost a 275 with 272mm section width).

I got those tires, just because I was curious, wanted to try them out (soft compound), may try the hard compound next just to compare.

Video

Also some random fun during the event (Harlem Shake)

Pictures -- credit the on-track pictures to @Maeiourk for taking them, very cool of him.

looking good out there yandy! some aggressive passing in there. so what was the verdict with the new tires. been curious about them myself. btw that mini is doing a good job drafting you. love the look of the EC7's. what's the wire sticking out the window?

Tires are great, feel stickier with better turn in than the NT-01s. I just wish my car wasn't having the issues it was all weekend long to really compare. Best lap was the first day, first session before the problems started (1:46.04) I believe (no video from first day at all) which is more than 2 seconds faster than I've ever gone. The wider compound helps too, but hopefully next time car's up to par to really give them hell. I'm really happy with how the feel out there, will probably stick with them for a while.

The EC7s are great, the fitment in the back with the 58mm is spot on, I'm significantly lower than stock (fenders rolled myself) and the 265 fits nicely, probably have another 10mm back there to play with also.

The wire's the mic that's routed from the inside to the back of the car (through the panels).

Funny the picture with the mini's on the pace lap just as we got the green, but yea he's a buddy of mine and likes to have fun.

Looks like an awesome course. Wicked ride you have there. Dive into those corners and lets see some steering correction to keep it on the track!

haha, thanks, there were a couple of oops moments, specially in the same turn that I crashed before during the first day. But I have no video from the first day, left all my cameras at home (yes I'm retarded) though I only got one session in that day.

The second day, I spent it more fine tuning the car from the 30FF. In the video above, I think you can tell there's a point where I have to clear codes.

But she's hopefully better now.

Yeah, I can only imagine the grip you get from those wheels/tires. No one wants oops moments! I'm talking about just going so fast that you need corrective lock to keep the car on the course.

Think I found the other reason for my under-boost during my last track day. Two things at the same time, kinda weird, but guess these are tings to check for. Pipe/coupler from IC outlet into the pipe connecting the IC and charge-pipe (yes, it's beat down as well).

Also, new garage toy, it was free and it works

Damn that outlet is beat up. What'd you do to it? Air compressor is crucial... So helpful. They're noisy but well worth it.

Yea, been meaning to get one for a while, but this will do. I lost one of the couplers after the crash, guess that one wasn't so resistant to heat maybe. Replaced all of them today to be safe, as far as the pipe, I'm not exactly sure, probably from all the times I've taken it off to clean the IC and other components.

For anyone curious, then new coupler solved the second part of the problem. But, it had been a while, so I replaced all three couplers with new ones ( with THESE ). They also have different ones, I just got them red, because racecar .. lol (HERE). Also replaced all t-bolt clamps (source locally) with new ones, can't really hurt. Washed out the IC, Charge-pipe, DV's all that good stuff. Hopefully I should be good for a while now.
