Performance Exhaust tips stick out...yours?
I got the Performance Exhaust installed today...sounds sick but I was shocked to see how far the tips stuck out in the back...easily an inch or two further than stock. Not sure I like the look because it def looks aftermarket and almost like I went to a local auto store and snapped on fake chrome tips. Anybody else have the BMW performance exhaust...do your tips stick out too? It just looks too "OUT" for me

I'm not a big fan of the single walled tips, like aa and the bmwpe in general, but I would agree, from the ones I have seen in person they do stick out a little far for me

Yeah mine sticks out a lot further on my 135. I read that the BMW performance rear diffuser makes it a little less noticable. My guess is BMW meant for you to spend more money when you buy the performance exhaust..

Yes. Thought I'd mind more than I do.

Had the same as i had this exhaust installed before i picked up the car at closing.I was quite pissed when i saw it for the 1st time...My dealer actually gave me some cash to get it fixed as they were quite surprised as well on the fit... Only 2 options....BMW does have a couple of inches where they can cut the exhaust to fit better(does require taking it off and re-installing) or go the diffuser route(which i did) and this helps quite bit and IMO looks better than OEM diffuser...There should be a warning from BMW dealerships telling prospective buyers of there Performance exhaust that this is what to expect with OEM diffuser....the exhaust was designed originally to go with the BMW Performance Diffuser from the get go..I WAS TOLD...but why in the hell didi BMW not put the performance diffuser on the 135is????? They should have even if they made one that is not CF....doh BMW!!! BMW Performance diffuser is way to expensive.

I have the same issue with the PE. Was considering an ebay diffuser to remedy the problem but I'm not completely comfortable with that option. I wonder what if anything can be done to move it back an inch or so (short of cutting the actual tip). Is there some room for adjustment on the back end where it's bolted on?

The guy who installed mine said he can move it back another 1/4 inch, in which case anything would help. But honestly, the more I looks at it, the more Im ok with how it looks. Its just that for a BMW part it looks very aftermarket...but sounds realy really good

TBH, I never even noticed they stuck out any further Looking at a few photos of mine from when it had the OEM exhaust, I doubt if they protrude more than a 1/4 of inch or so....

I never understood why they stuck out so far and also why they made them so small compared to every aftermarket option. The first time I saw one in person I was very surprised at how far out they stuck. I think it's partially an illusion as the stock pipes are black and therefor a little less noticeable compared to the slightly longer but chrome PE tips.

Yeah the exhaust note (stock) is really tame and doesn't suit the nature of the 135. Exhaust is one of the most smile-inducing mods for the car. I had the CP-E and N55 mids and it sounded beastly.

Must be the case that they were designed to be fitted along with the diffuser.
I still have the OEM zorst, but have fitted the diffuser and was happy that I no longer had to clean my zorst tips : ) The tips are pretty much flush with he diffuser |

I agree with you, I like them too. You can barely see the tips as it is, having these stick out a bit farther gives it a little bling back there for the 128.
Looking forward to getting this soon... |

Yea I'm not minding it. The tips are more aggressive in person than in pics. Definitely seems like a larger diameter than the stock black ones

somewhere around this site is a thread on putting the stock tips on the PE exhaust. Looked good, but I'm fine with how the PE looks on mine. Plus for whatever reason don't want to hack up the stock exhaust. Not that I'd ever put it back on...love the sound of the PE
