My 128i Custom Muffler Delete
Alright, ever since I bought this car, I have been looking seriously at the BMW Performance Exhaust. I just could not ever get myself to justify spending 600-800 dollars on something that will only change the exhaust note of the car when it meant that I could easily buy a set of shocks with that money.
Searching through the threads I came to realize that there really were not many tangible performance gains when it came to the BMW PE. All I was looking for when it came to the exhaust was the deeper and more raw note that came with it to replace the vacuum cleaner sound that the stock 128i muffler makes. Long story short, I decided to simply go to a nearby exhaust shop and get a custom muffler delete. Took 30 minutes and $160 to get the job done. I can honestly say that I am completely satisfied with the result. Honestly the exhaust tips could be better, but considering the deal the guy was offering at the time, I had to jump on it. He offered to do the job including a resonator delete for 200, but I declined since I don't want the car to be too loud. Anyways, check it out guys, let me know what you think. |

Yea, basically went to a exhaust shop and told them I want to remove the muffler and run a straight pipe from the resonator. The guy measured everything out, cut the piping the went to the muffler, removed it, and welded new pipes in its place with an exhaust tip. 30 minute job after I explained what I wanted to do. Very cost effective as well.

The shop I took it to was called Speedway Muffler in Rowland Heights. Super professional and easy to work with. VERY fast too. |

Sounds really good!
I also did a custom exhaust on my car. Started from the catback with a 3" piping custom exhaust from magna flow. Sounds similar to yours. I did lose power in the beginning since my engine wasn't use to the larger piping but it came back to normal after a couple miles of driving it.

It definitely will be loud if you delete the secondary cats or resonator. |

It should be interchangeable. If anything, since the muffler will require you to saw off the pipe, you should just go to a reputable exhaust shop and they should have all the piping to weld it all together.

If you want to put the berk on without modifying it youll have to cut off the muffler and resonator and it will fit. The shop will either have to weld on the axleback or weld on a matching clamp to the berk axleback.

Nice. I like my 128i but it is way to quiet. I have thought of buying some twin exhaust tips and have a muffler delete or the Berk race pipe for a 135i. I might do your route and save some money. OK, I won't save my money but I will buy something else for the car!
