Getting cold feet about ordering

Already ordered a 1er. Won't be here until March but I just glanced in the "FUTURE" section of bimmerpost where it states the next 1er, the F22 will debut this year. I really don't like the way the F20 looks but DAMN those F22 coupe renderings are making me feel like I may have made a big mistake. I guess I'm just venting.

The new 1 Series Coupe won't hit the US til Summer/Fall 2013, that's almost 2 years. What if you don't like the way it drives??

Just lease the one you ordered, then you can get a new one in 2 or 3 years.

Lease it. It's going to be around 2 years before the new style hits this side of the pond.

I'd really rather not buy the first year of a new model. I wasn't even thrilled about getting such an early N55 engine.

I'd buy the current 1 series again, in a heartbeat, and never regret it. I keep my cars 10 years, typically. There's a lot of "latest greatest" that comes along in 10 years. I don't pay it any attention. Our e46 is still awesome, and the e9x replacement is on the way.

Keep your order. I have a 2012 and love it... Gives us something to look forward to buying in the future.

Quite frankly, not buying a 1'er now because you like the artist's renderings of the F22 is... well... not smart. The artist's renderings are likely close, but not that close. The details are usually missing which can quickly turn a gorgeous vehicle into something you'd rather not touch. I remember when the E90 was first coming out... the camo'd test cars led to some lovely renderings that really excited me (and others). Then the E90 was released... horrible hood, eyebrows and all. It was the 3'er that almost completely turned me off BMW for life... even uglier than the E60. Ironically, the LCI version looked more like the original renderings, but that was years later.

The E82 is a gorgeous little car. While a lot of people don't really get the proportions of the current 1'er, I get it and like it a lot. It's somehow managed to capture the essence of the 2002 while still being an awful lot like the E46 coupe. I will also admit that the whole design made no sense to me in photos, but the first time I saw an E82 in-the-flesh I was taken aback and decided I had to have one. I have had the exact opposite reaction to some cars, in particular the F20's that I saw in Munich back in October. I think that car looks decent in pictures, but in person it just doesn't click for me. The interior is gorgeous... the exterior... less so.

As others have said though, if you think you're going to like the F22 then lease the E82. You won't regret it. Worst case if you love the E82 and decide the F22 isn't for you, you can buy out the lease at the end. And if you decide the E82 isn't for you... well you've only got three years in the car.

I say keeper order! It will be a few years before the new one is around anyway and there's no guarantee you'll like it.

I love my car and have no plans to leave her silky smooth curves, agile moves and very very enthusiastic engine for another man to touch!

All of these are great points. Realistically, it could be 2014 or later for the F22, I wouldn't bet on seeing it in the next two years, let alone this year.

Hello. First time poster but I've wanted a 1 series ever since I saw it back in 2008.

If the redesigned 1/2 series won't be out until late 2013 will there by a 2013 model with the current body style? I know the 2012s have been out since spring/summer 2011. Would the 2012 model year last 2 calendar years until the replacement.

I used to fly helicopters for the Army. We had an old adage:
