this pricing is pretty good in the sense that it is really making me wonder if i should just get a 335i or used cayman s instead. i'm not complaining...just saying it works to make people consider giving bmw even _more_ money....

Although ED MSRP savings are just 7%, plenty dealers discount it significantly more, since it doesn't come from their monthly allocation.
On both my wife's X3 and my 335i, the ED savings were around 11%. Go to bimmerfest.com to the ED forum, check out the thread that lists decent dealers in many states that will give you great pricing without hassle.

The individual prices themselves are not the issue, but rather the percentage of added cost to the car for these things. If you add up all the options the price is just under $50k, how much was last years M roadster/coupe? How much is a Cayman S, isn't it a little over $50k. The premium package adds almost 10% to the cost of the 135, thats insane. This is what we get for having a weak dollar right now I guess I'll buy a CPO 335 in the spring instead of the 135 I think, the input from my dealer contact os that the lease deals are not going to be good on the 135 for a while and that BMW will tightly control flow to the dealers to keep the prices at full sticker. I'm not saying the car isn't worth $35k, I'm just upset at how much the options will cost and the fact that when I'm writing a check for $38k to drive my base 135 home I'll be able to see the used lot of my local Porsche dealer across the street trying to sell last years Cayman S for about $7k more than what I'm buying. |

The car is a fat, has vague steering and is overpriced for what's basically an economy car, especially if you put some standard options on it. All it has going for it is that it's fast and it has the BMW brand plastered on it. The value proposition is horrible. I'd consider it with the sport package (should be standard on 135i), leather (prefer cloth, I don't have any problem with leatherette, but vinyl on a $35K+ car is an absurd value proposition) and premium stereo at $35K, but at $40K, it's a bad value. They crossed the value line on this one. I'd rather spend a more on a real sports car. Porsche for me. Now the question is Cayman or 911... At least my shopping is more interesting now. |

BMW priced this right out of my garage. I scratched the 135 off my short list; I'm sure BMW will do well with this car, but for me, it's too much money for not enough car. The pricing of the 135 will probably sell more 3 Series cars for BMW.

IMO, this looks to be too pricey for what you get. What a shame.
For this kind of money, I may snap me up a new Z M Coupe since they're going for $15k off MSRP (which is what happens when BMW overprices a niche car). |

There shoudl be a few ED threads around here also the BMW USA website has info on ED and one of our frequent posters, Irv Robinson, has an ED website, http://www.edbmw.com/main/ . Also 'bimmerfest' has a very active and useful ED forum. It can be found here: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25 |
