MSRP for 2011 135i coupe

I just spoke to a dealership in TO and they told me the MSRP on a 2011 135i coupe is $43,000. They just got the info today. The M-sport pkg is $1900. So if I recall correctly, this is an increase of only $100 vs. 2010 prices. I'm happy with that.

If anyone can confirm this, or was told otherwise, please do share!

You're happy to pay more for something even though our dollar has gone up and we should be paying less??

To me, an increase of $100 is insignificant. Despite the high Cdn dollar, I can't expect the price to go down, so I'm just happy it hasn't significantly gone up. Before they confirmed the 2011 pricing, some dealerships were telling me it could go up by close to $1K.

Disappointed that we didn't get free leather or anything, but I think the 2011 packages are better (at least for me).

Price is too high !

A comparably optioned 135 is virtually the same price as 335 coupe and $10,000 more than US 135. This is BMW Canada gouging and poor pricing structure.

Well, if it contains the same equipment, has basically the same performance, is just a bit smaller and a little lighter, why wouldn't it be about the same price? A 335i xDrive with a full set of options to match a 535i xDrive is almost the same price too.

Blame the current strength of the Canadian Dollar, 6.2% duty and smaller volumes for much of that. Import a US car and save yourself some money if you don't like the price here.

In Germany and the UK, even though the Canadian Dollar is very high against the Euro and Pound at the moment, a 135i is still over $10,000 cheaper in Canada than there.

No point in complaining about something being cheaper in a different market, the price is set relative to the local market. Your options are to buy locally and negotiate down as best you can, buy in another market and import if you can, buy something else or move to the cheaper market and buy there.

I'm sorry, but these traditional arguments that are always trotted out fail to convince me that there is a reasonable basis for the huge discrepancy in the Canada vs USA price. Other manufacturers such as VW don't have such a huge discrepancy and we don't see this with many other goods. A 6% duty is one thing, but a 25% price differential is lining BMW Canada pockets. I am a BMW fan but I am seriously considering a new GTI instead of the 135 I was interested in.

There's no comparison so let's hope you're saving tons of money in protest

I do agree with you, though..

Well, a base GTI with Xenons in Canada is CAD$31,040 compared with US$25,179 in the US (23% difference). The US car additionally has Sirius and 3 years of free service, can't seem to add these to the Canadian car.

A base 135i with black boston leather and sunroof on the Canadian car is CAD$48,695; with CWP and Bluetooth on the US car (to make them equivalent) the price is US$38,975, a 25% difference in price.

With the 6.2% non-NAFTA country duty levied on cars imported into Canada, the GTI price difference stands at about 17% and the 135i at 19%. It will be interesting when VW starts production of the MK6 Golf/Jetta platform in Mexico in 2011 whether they will drop the price of the models by 6.2% when they transfer production from Germany.

Sounds like you need to import a car from the US if you are worried about the price differential, percentage wise it doesn't seem to be any different for VW.
