Installed the cusco STB just few hours ago. The nuts under the OEM bar on the driver side could be taken out without removing anything.

All you have to do, loosen the nut all the way, use some strength and pull up the OEM bar; while pulling the bar up, slide out the nut. Putting back in is harder tho, so grab yourself a third hand to do the pull up while you inserting the nut.

Please be advice not to drop the nut while in or out. Would be a pain to if you do drop in!

I tried nudging the stock bar without removing the outside bolt and theres no way thats happening. Unless you remove its outside bolt which i tried with all my strength, didnt budge...

It worked for me, altho my friend from Nissan did the install for me, but I was beside him while the pulling up of the OEM bar. He used alot of strength tho, in and out happens in 1 sec...so u could try abit more strength on the pull up! GL

You won't rip the OEM bar by pulling it up by hand, but you might strip the star nut if you do not use an air gun. But as someone mentioned, the space you need to remove the nut is nearly less than 1~2mm. Maybe I am lucky I could get the nut out and putting it back in. Hope to see someone else would work by my method. Btw: I am located in Markham Toronto...

You don't need an air gun...LMAO....the star nut in the center can be removed with elbow grease...I am not a big dude and I did it (5' 9" 165lbs)
...just takes the proper tools for the job and an air gun is not necessarily one of them...

sorry but seems like the appropriete place to ask. I am swaping my stock bar(s) for the M3 OEM unit, I had to cut the 12mm bolt that fits in the center, however, it's still too long. Does anyone know what the part # is for the shorter bolt? I might just try to cut and file it down more.

Went to BMW and they could not help me...I always have to show up there w/ the part # because they are too incompetent to look it up.

Any help would be great! and to the OP, invest in some really good metric tools, I bought a cheap air compressor w/ attachments for $100 and use it all the time.

PM Harold@HPAutowerks on here...they have experience swapping those things out and should be able to give you a definitive answer.
