I had this kind of post before between a loaded 335i vs an e46 M3:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=loaded+335i

I had my oil change yesterday and picked the e46 325Ci loaner over the e90 325i (I drove last time already). My impression was: the e46 325 w/ sport pkg was nice, but it's noticeably slow compared to the e90. The e46 interior set up was quite tight for the driver while the glove compartment was a little far to reach. The orientation of the front seat made the e46 look crowded compared to the e90.

If I´ve got the choose, I´d take the E46 M3 at first, here in MUC are
drives a lot of these, some as cab´s, too...always still a wonderful car beside
the E90!

although the e46 m3 has been and still is a great car... i think its time for a little change? the e46 platform has been around for a few years, so why not just get the newest versions out/coming out? i say go with the e90/92... just because these are the freshest cars in the bmw market.

Owned both. Both are great!

I loved my 2000 E46 (with 98,000 miles, and I gave it to my mom) and I love my 2006 E90 (needed the xi for winter driving). Both are GREAT cars and I'd be happy with either!

I already got the 330 covered so now it's time to get the M3 and complete the set.

The 46 could been sold for a coupla more years and still doen well. It's like they're 2 totally different cars.

If you can make the directly comparison between the E46 and E90 - you can
feel it, it´s easy to describe: The E90 is building more robustly, you don´t notice anything like bad streets, in the E46 it´s quite other, more loudly and
body is more softer.
But this all isn´t bad for the car, it´s simply the old model, you´ve to life with it!
It doesn´t disturb me, I like my old coupé!

This is the exact decision I was faced with when I got my car. I had test driven an E46 M3 and was hooked. However, I put off buying the car until after moving into my condo. By that time, I saw the E90 and changed my mind.

Probably the best decision I could have made. I hardly have the space to use the 330's full potential. An M3 would have been overkill. Not to mention, I saved about $13K. I figured if I needed more power I could always upgrade in a few years to the E90/E92 M3

However, now I am rethinking the future upgrade to the M3 in favor of keeping the 330 and adding a Porsche Carrera S (or 4S) in a few years.

I vote the E90.

I used to love the E46, but got back into one the other day and realised how much the E90 spoils you, especially in the interior space department.

The 335 is sure to be a rocket, so can't wait to see what the E90 based M3 will be like

I would never buy a brand new car that is already dated.

Exactly my thoughts, and exactly what drove me to look at the E90 in the first place as opposed to the A4 I was thinking of... so glad I got the E90 (over the A4), and not because of the looks, but because it is a car on a totally different plane of existence.
