Hey guys,

here are a few pics of a BBK that was purchased during our "Superlap" special and recently landed at Advan.

This particular Nashin kit features 380/345 mm 2-piece floating rotors with Mono-block 6/4 piston calipers.

As you can see the rotors were optionally drilled as requested by the customer and the calipers were pre-loaded with "Sport" pads.

As it turns out the customer is now super keen for a "Sapphire Blue" caliper, rather than the "Garnet Red" he originally requested.

In lieu of the above the complete BBK is available for purchase and can be bought for P.O.A.

It's compatible with both the 135i & 335i, however for 1 Series owners it does require the use of 19" wheels.

For any of the local guys that may be interested in this kit, it's on display at the Advan workshop for a closer inspection.

Well, after a bit of a delay Pavo's Nashin BBK finally cleared Australian Customs and we installed it on his E92 335i last Friday.

For those that may recall, this is the same kit that Peter installed on his 335i sometime ago.

The kit comprises a 380 mm 2-piece "Floating rotor" and Mono-block 6 piston caliper on the front, with a 345 mm 2-piece "Floating rotor" and 4 piston Mono-block caliper on the rear.

The calipers were preloaded with Nashin's "Sport" pads, which is a recommended upgrade for a car that sees very regular track day use, such as Pavo's.

Here are some pics of the vehicle and OE brakes prior to the install, during and post fitment of the BBK.

Following Pavo's track day at Wakefield on Thursday, we will get the vehicle back up on the hoist for a thorough inspection of the Nashin BBK and I will take a few more pics of the entire kit, given that the rotors and pads will have been properly bedded in, after some Pavo punishment.

Thanks Kenny, they are euro division cx something iirc not vmr's as the centre caps would have you believe. The cheapie eBay BMW ones are at Wakefield somewhere and I had these sitting around and figured they look close enough :

Hey Vinney,

the 355 mm rotor has a thickness of 32 mm.

The 380 mm is 34 mm in thickness, as is the 370 mm and the 345 mm rotor is 28 mm.

What size rotor were you specifically after, 355 mm?

With regards "floating" versus "fixed", to be quite honest the Nashin 1-piece "fixed" rotor is not a good thing.

Following closer inspection of the 2-piece and 1-piece rotors, I can tell you the former is curved vane where as the latter is not. The front curved vane rotors by design, appear to much stronger than their straight pillar counterparts and are obviously far better at dissipating heat under race track conditions.

In short unless the vehicle is strictly intended for "street" use only, Peter and I will not be supplying a customer with Nashin 1-piece "fixed" rotors.

Conversely the "floating" rotor system employed by Nashin is very much top shelf. It's extraordinary to find such a spaced hat and rotor peg system, on a BBK that is so cost effective.

The floating mechanism allows for the thermal expansion and contraction of the rotor face, independently of the rotor hat or hub.

This significantly reduces the stress on the rotor face and eliminates the possibility of a cracked rotor, save the most severe track conditions.

What's more given that rotors are a consumable item, it's great to be able to to swap out a worn rotor whilst retaining the use of the original hat and rotor peg system.

As I have said before Nashin has a comprehensive range of spare parts, that are all readily available and quite modestly priced too.

yes we do, as the 1M hat offsets and caliper mounts will be identical to a M3.

FYI,

I spent quite a bit of time working up a M3 kit a few months ago, that would utilise a 355 mm rear rotor as apposed to the 345 mm rotor we would normally fit to a 135i & 335i.

The rear rotor size for a M3/1M is 350 x 24 mm, as such the customer was not too keen on decreasing the rear rotor size by 5mm, even though the Nashin rotor is 4 mm greater in thickness and benefits from the superb 2-piece "floating" rotor system.

The customer did not end up pulling the trigger on the kit, but following several conversations with Nashin, we were confident we could do a 380/355 mm combination with a N7 caliper up front and a N5 on the rear.

The installation of the rear 355 x 32 mm rotor/N5 caliper setup would not be a direct bolt up, IIRC some modification to the parking brake assembly would be required to ensure correct fitment. However I believe it would not be a problem for a skilled and competent mechanic.
