Radar Detector Question

I have an Escort Passport 8500 X50 radar detector. Can I leave it plugged into the 12v socket all the time? Will it drain battery after I turn the car off? Not interested in hardwiring the detector at all.

you will get constant power and will eventually drain.

why are you so against hardwire?

IIRC the CIG lighter turns off when the car is off

Yes, you can leave it plugged in with no problem. Ran an escort this way for the last 13 years, no issues.

Awesome, thanks! Just wanted to make sure, 'cus the 135i batteries are so friggin' expensive!
