I know about the previous E36 cooling system issues, etc. but I'm not planning on replacing anything until approx 120K, and then only the water pump and tstat. I'll try to time the battery repacement the so I can run the 12 min pump priming. Battery is OE.
BTW, my car avgs 49 mph for the last 65K miles. I'm assuming that is 2X avg speed for the average car. 65K/49=1,326 hours. Assuming the first 35K was 25 mph average that comes to 1,400 hours. Total is 2,736 hours. Where is this heading? If water pumps fail at 90K (myth?) that equals 3600 hours. So do I have approximately 900 hours left on the pump, or another 44Kmiles left? |

Update at 106,400
Since 98,500 miles:
Brake flyid flush - 99,000 New air filter - 99,000 Oil change - 103,850 BUT, THE FIRST REPAIR @ 105,500 Replaced Mass Air Sensor - cost $427. Now we will see how higher mileage affects the service history. Still commuting 150 miles/day. |

Thanks for the updates. It's good to read about a well maintained one lasting that long without any major issues. I just broke 1200 miles on my 128i so I'm pretty much on the opposite end of the spectrum right now but hoping mine lasts.
