Dipped the OEM Sport Wheels and PE Exhaust...

Wanted a more aggressive look...car is leased so dont wanna buy wheels or powdercoat...Dipped the OEM Sport Wheels and PE Exhaust yesterday...$18 and about 4-5 hours without taking wheels off the car...this stuff goes on super even, very durable, protects wheels, and peels right off...picts attached (iPad only lets me upload one at a time, Ill update with more pics later)...

The wheels I get but the exhaust? Exhausts get hot, aren't you worried about burning the plastidip and damaging your bumper (or worse) ion the process? Doesn't seem like a good idea.

A little excessive masking off the entire car, but i guess its good to be sure! I've dipped my cars wheels several times but i always take them off since it lets you be a little more even and work more comfortably. I've dipped my friends wheels on his car and only masked the brakes without issue.

Looks good! Glad to know it works on the exhaust tips as well!

The dip job looks sweet. I have an AW 128i w/sport package and similar wheels. I planned on dipping mine in the next couple of weeks. I'm glad to see what they look like dipped.

Are these matte or gloss? I'm debating between the two. Do you have any better close ups of the wheel?

It would look great on the AW...if I could do it again I might go AW, black is a PITA to keep clean...AW with all blackout windows and wheels...

Its flat matte black plasti-dip from hardware store...$5.50 a can...took 3 cans...closeup pic attached...small blemish on just this wheel, not bad for first time

I think there should be a straight plasti-dip thread to show all the plasti-dip creations on the 1 series. There have been some great projects posted at different times and its such a low cost mod. I know a lot of folks are afraid to do anything to their cars but from all the posts, reviews and videos, this is an easy application and removal.

I finally pulled the trigger on getting my OEM wheels plasti dipped and I got the CF spoiler from JBSpeed. Thanks to the help of Jettt and the1andonly for responding to my PMs.

I'm very satisfied with look and I've been told several times since I did it, that the car looks real aggressive which is what I was trying to accomplish. Ok...on to the pics.

It's much better to be safe than sorry. I did my stripes with plasti-dip indoors (no wind) one panel at a time and even though I was very close to the surface and covered pretty much all around the panel I was spraying as well as most of the adjacent panels I still found overspray on other parts of the car. Better to cover up almost everything you can and not have to worry about trying to clean up overspray later. A bit of tape and newspaper/drop sheets don't cost too much anyway.

For sure rather be safe then sorry. i used plasidip all over my car from my rims, side mirrors and etc. for the overspray that i did have that ended up on the car i used Goo Gone and a Micro Fiber towel and it came right off no problem.

Looks awesome! I plan on doing this over the weekend as well. I like the style of stock 128i wheels, but silver always leaves a little more to be desired.

Good luck. Are you doing just wheels? If you can, get the spray trigger. Your fingers will be happy.

For now, yes. I have already done the front kidney's in actual matte black not plastidip, and considered doing this with the chrome accents around the windows, but I think I am going to stay away from that for the time being and stick with the wheels and grill.

Did you have someone help you with installing the lip spoiler? I have one similar on order, and was considering doing it myself, but I've heard a lot of people saying grab an extra set of hands.
