One of my friend just got an Alpha JB4 unit. Our cars are EXACTLY the same. Same color exterior , interior. Performance mods are the same Intake, Axleback exhaust, except he has JB4 i have Procede V5. We both have 6AT. He has his snow tires on while i have my summers on in this 23 degree weather. The only difference between our cars is that I have a full coilover / m front suspension and a LSD. But at a 60 MPH the LSD does not kick in. We did two pulls on a closed track. One with him being on map 2 I believe and me being on map 1 with a max boost of 14.5
Run 1: 3rd Gear Pull from 60-120. We were both Neck to neck at 120. at 120 he was gaining an inch but nothing noticeable. Then I switched to map 2(16 psi) and he switched to map 7(16.5 psi but he has max global boost set to 16). Run 2: 3rd gear pull from 50-130. Neck to neck till 130. (NOTE WE both did pulls in between to allow for adaptations when switching maps). We were not shocked at all. Our cars are exactly similar and are running the same amount of boost. Cheers =) Last edited by moveswiftly; 12-09-2010 at 11:56 PM.. |

yup. Cars felt VERY similar. But at times his boost felt inconsistent (probably because it's still in alpha stage).

No reason why there should be noticeable differences in outright performance between the two and this confirms it. Both are great piggies.
JB for the price, PROcede for the functionality and peace of mind

No surprises here Chesterfan. Exactly what I expected.
Actually, I admit: I thought Procede would be quicker as JB4 is still Alpha. I was wrong. Sub 25 deg. F outside temps = $$ |

I remember seeing a chart a while ago comparing all tunes and their features. I hope some one can updates it with the JB4 included. Though the $645 enthusiast version of the V5 look good from a price point, I'd like to know how it stacks against the JB4 feature wise.

not a bad comparrison, it's just without hard data.
next time, see if you can do datalogs. i'd be interested in seeing the boost, timing, a/f, etc plotted next to each other. that'd be much more telling and detailed |

This comparison was ONLY to test acceleration with all else equal besides tune [pretty much] (and mileage/car year/tires/6AT shifting skills{LoL :-)} ). Last edited by scott135i; 12-10-2010 at 01:16 PM.. Reason: spelling |

If you have a jb3, it is only $85 to upgrade. This new platform is much more capable and the features are plentiful. Of course, that is all in the eye of the beholder. If you are content with what you have, stay where you are.

JB3 to JB4 upgrade is a must and a no-brainer...
For $85 it doesn't make sense in any scenario , just like prior JB upgrades. If you didn't buy direct from a vendor (re-sale) it still makes sense. Currently I have one Procede powered car, one JB3 powered car and one JB4 powered car (mine) in the family. JB4 is radically better than JB3. Happy with each tune, and waiting to upgrade to JB4 full release. Anyone in the NYC area with JB3 is welcome to PM me, drop me a line, and come check it out (JB4 alpha) |

"The JB4 is an upgrade to the JB3 that replaces it's control box with a new much more technically capable box. The new box features 5x the processing power, 2x the memory, better signal conditioning, a more robust power supply, integrated CAN communications, and additional inputs and outputs for future use. CAN specifically is the largest improvement allowing access to hundreds of new parameters, commands, and potential tuning features. In place so far on the alpha are in dash gauges, shift light, built in code reading/deleting, steering wheel controls, on the fly map switching with confirmation, a completely new CAN based boost control system, cold oil protection, built in DPFIX, etc. Additional features currently under development include autotuning to optimize power and safety on an ongoing basis, drag launch mode, adaptive PID to optimize boost targeting, progressive meth mapping, and many more to come."
