DIY Tools & Accessories - Recommendations
Hi all,
It's time for me to boost my tool and gadget collection to support basic DIY and maintenance of my cars. I'd love to hear from all of you, your recommendations, estimated cost, and place to purchase relating to tools and gadgets. In this regard I'd like to do it once and do it right. Not have to hop down to bunnings everytime i bend a screwdriver, or worse still cross thread/round bolts etc To paint the picture, imagine a guy who has a toolshed which compromises of a cheap drill and an ikea DIY tool set. I'm thinking.. Socket Set (which one, metric imperial? both?) Torx Set? Screwdrivers? Jack? Car Ramps? Stuff required to change oil? |

I bought my trim removal set off ebay. They look like the ones here;
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7-PC-Car-...item5199cbf486 But my shipping was about 1/3 of that. Can't seem to find the same listing. |

In regards to the ramps, maybe have a look at race ramps.
I have always been paranoid working underneath a car with supported by a jack & jack stands and found the solution to be raceramps although i never purchased them as I moved into an apartment therefore have bugger all space to store them or work on my car. They come in various sizes/lengths and they have great reviews but they are pretty expensive though |

I always find little tools to be the most useful in situations besides the ones you already have listed.
Pick set Extendable mirror Extendable magnetic pick up tool 1/4" drive socket set/ 1/2" drive set also. All metric ratcheting wrenches |

As above!
A magnetic tool is very useful. I dropped bmroxm5's flathead screwy through my engine bay and the undertray caught it. We spent a while trying to get it out! |

I would think about the following:
- Definitely torx driver set or torx socket set for your ratchets - Good tyre pressure gauge - Tyre inflator. I just bought this very useful one from Bunnings for ~$30: http://www.ozito.com.au/digital-mini-compressor - Absolutely agree about the trim removal tools. I just bought these from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LNBLTK. $27 delivered to Melbourne - I would also consider a torque wrench and breaker bar for your wheel bolts - Box of rags and cleaning stuff |

- Oil Filter Wrench - O2 Socket Wrench - N54 Spark Plug Socket - Some of those adjustable shifters, multiple sizes. - Those Female (?) Torx's - Two jacks, say 1000kg and a 2500kg number - Torque Wrench for the spark plugs - Oil Drainage bucket - Oil Syphon - A light/torch battery operated, and hangable - A light 240v floor flood light - Jack stands 2 or 4 - Ramps (either the ones made for lowered cars, or if your cheap like me just jack the car and lower it onto the ramps - Cable Ties, multiple sizes, black in color - Those clamp thingos, always good to have a few lying around. |

Slightly OT, but does anyone have the press tools required to extract and reinsert rear subframe bushes?
If not, how keen would others be to rent one if I was to purchase it (I believe they are not cheap)?
