I can't stop myself. I am wearing out my car.
I used to ride my motorcycle on nice days. I used to coerce my wife into taking the Camry on driving vacations. I used to drive the same short route to work every day.
How things have changed! The bike is under a quarter inch of dust. The Camry will soon need an oil change based on date instead of mileage. I make every excuse to take the 135 unless I am absolutely stinkin' sweaty from working in the yard. Even then... I'll take a quick shower and change and jump into the Bimmer anyway! My work commute is 14 miles round trip, but I have 4,500 miles on the odo already. That equals 18,000 miles per year. At this rate, I'll be ticking over 90,000 when I make the final payment. Can anybody stop me?...or at least slow me down? Does this just wear off at some point in time? |

I figure, you pay for it, so why not drive it!! I still get excited every time I get in for a drive, even after 10,000 miles.

Its meant to be driven. Drive it hard, drive it 100 miles every day. Anything less and it would be a crime.

So, that's it. I am doomed. There is no patch... no substitute... no methadone.
Today a flawless 911 Carrera passed me unnecessarily. He wanted to play. He beckoned by surging and spinning the rears, wagging his big fat ass all over the adjoining lane. I dropped into third and brought up the revs. I could have smoked him, at least for an eighth mile or so, but I gripped the wheel and resisted. But just barely. The memory of my last speeding ticket all too fresh in my mind. It took every fiber of my being to stay under the limit. Curse you BMW. Curse you and your seamless power delivery. Curse the incredible sense of road feel. Curse the comfort, the luxury, the envious looks from the masses. I am hopelessly addicted. |

As others have said, no it doesn't wear off, in fact it'll likely get much worse before it gets better
I have just over 45,000 km (28,000 miles) after only 13 months, and I predict I'll run out of warranty before the 2 year mark. Don't resist the urge - what are you "saving" your car for? |

There's a group you can join, called the BMW CCA. Kind of like AA, except they don't stop you from driving, don't want you to stop driving, encourage you to drive/mod/encourage others to drive.
Just accept it. It's a vice, but its' a good vice. |

I feel ya, Brotha.
Now that weather is nice. I find myself on random trips to random places. I make sure to hit all the underpassses too (Love the exhaust through it w WOT). I take special notes to all the cloverleafs in the area too...especially the decreasing radius ones. Hopefully I can get to Nelson's Ledges fun day soon. Drive it and enjoy it. One day it will be gone. miiipilot

I'm a bit over 42K on my 128i, still drive it ~18K a year and it is still the best all around car I've driven. 26mpg, awesome handling (BMW full PS), and it just F-ing fun!!
I overpay my loan, so it will be paid off in less than 36 months, so no big deal for me w/ milage. |
