is sparkling graphite metallic pinkish?
Hey Guys,
My first post! I'd like to report that my deposit is in for a week 10 build. I'm freakin out a bit about the color I chose. I'm all about the dark greys. I liked the way the SGM color looked on screen. After much calling around, I brought my deposit down to the dealer yesterday eve to get things going. I looked at the SGM 3 series in limited light and it looked great. The dealer and I agreed that I should see the color in the daylight to make sure. So this morning I drop by the dealer to see the SGM color with natural light. Freak....it looks like it has some pink or purple in it! I looked at some samples in the shade and in direct sunlight. Still pinkish! No, it was not near a red car or building. So am I nuts? Does anyone else see SGM this way? Please put me at ease or I'm changing my color. |

you aren't nuts. under some lighting conditions SGM has a purplish look to it. I think it looks awesome when the lighting doesn't bring out the purple but i think it's definitely there in some condiitons.

I currently own a SGM 1er hatch and i'm in love with the car. For some reason a SGM 3er (this is going to sound strange) doesn't look the same as my 1er hatch. There is a slight purple tinge in it in certain lighting conditions but its a masculine colour and much better than black (stonechips)...
Trust me you'll be happy with it. Its not too dark and not too light. Its a pitty the `1er coupe isn't available in space grey though. Each to his / her own... |

Its definitely got a purple-ish hue to it. But once again, why is everyone so afraid to have a uniquely BMW color on a BMW car. SGM, like Sedona or Cashmere, are really unique colors that are going to make your car stand out from the crowd. Embrace it as a plus, not a drawback.

I have it on my e46 ZHP. I love it and I receive a lot of compliments on it. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks for all the feedback. It looks fantastic in all the pics you guys have posted. Still a little concerned, but will keep the order the way it is.
