I love it when people post their first reactions after installing the Cobb. I am already in need of a set of rear tires. I just can't stop "rolling" on that throttle a few times on the way to work in the morning.

Between the cost of gas and rear tires, this is going to hurt my wallet.

So I finally got the AP installed, however after a few days I had a real long crank and a very rough idle, the first signs on the HPFP going bad, once I uninstalled the AP to take it to the dealer everything was fine. Has anyone else had this problem?

That isn't surprising. The Cobb will put a higher workload on the pump. You need to get the Cobb to trigger an HPFP code, uninstall without deleting the code and then take it to the dealer.

When it's installed have the AP plugged in and monitor fuel pressure.. and see what happens when ti's being rough.. then uninstall it and watch the fuel pressure and you should see what's going on.

I will do this, however I am pretty sure it is a result of the software, more boost plus more fuel will exaggerate the problem that will manifest itself eventually.

I waited to install the AP until after I took my car in for the HPFP recall. Probably a good move.

Well, if he hasn't done the HPFP recall, and doesn't have the latest part, he doesn't need a code. He can just take it in and they'll replace it. They tried to recall mine again last time I serviced, until they realized it was already replaced like 3 months ago.

Thanks, I was able to update my firmware once again, but I don't see any additional maps. How can I tell which 93oct map I have in my AP?

Flashing it back to stock will clear all the codes unfortunately. So unless you can replicate the problem while stock, this won't help.

I don't think it can monitor fuel pressure, it does measure AFR though... and if the fuel pump is starting to fail you'll see your AFR numbers skyrocket, as the pump can't keep up and the mixture goes lean.

There is only one map. I dont think Stage 2 is available yet.

Actually, I read in another thread that there is a forum member working directly with Cobb on a beta stage 1 93 octane tune that has less over boost at part throttle. One of the only complaints I have about the Cobb is that its much more sensitive to the drivers input. When you press the gas 20%, it would be nice to get 20% power. Instead you get a surge of boost (16psi sometimes) and when you let off the throttle slightly the power decreases instantly. I feel I have less control of the car.

I understand that its unrealistic to ask Cobb to create tunes that fit the needs of every driver, but Im not alone here. I also understand that even stock the car has these characteristics, just on a more controllable level.

Im thrilled with the tune, but if they are already developing a slightly more docile tune, I'd like to give it a go.

Ill have to search and find that post again.

I just flashed mine back to stock, they just replaced mine the other day.

Raced my buddies E46 M3 with ECU, intake, exhaust, and mid pipes and pulled him. This car is a monster now. Still have my temp tags on and cant wait to get my DP's and intake installed.

This is correct. I e-mailed my SA asking her about the HPFP. There has been a recall and you do not need a code to get it replaced. I have an appointment for Wednesday and when I get the car back I will reinstall the map I had before I had problems.

I was just wondering if anyone has had a chance to run the car at a track to actually get a measurable performance comparison?(by track I mean strip)
