How fast?
At the risk of self incrimation, how fast have you had your beast up to?
Took her to 240kph today. Comments: effortless, still accelerating at that speed, stable, awsome.

215km (at Eastern Creek), other than that I would dream of going that fast on public roads :0
Comments: only care about pulling her up for turn 1!!!

I would have hit the speed limiter but I didn't want to brake heavily at the end of the straight so I just took my foot off the accelerator with 500m to go. Took a picture at 220kph and decided that it wasn't wise to keep driving at such speed with one hand on the wheel so didn't get a shot at 240kph.....

I wouldn't be game either on roads around Sydney. But over on these deserted roads, it's a different story. Trick is to find a long enough straight (as a lot of the roads here are twisty). I discovered a great piece of deserted back road by accident half hour from my place - off the beaten track, flat, dead straight for probably 3.5 kms long.

A friend was driving my car. The roof was down and I was enjoying the sun. I glanced at the speedo and noticed he was doing 210. Initially I thought it might be a parallax error but he looked at me with a smile across his face and said this car is fantastic. It seemed like we were going about 130 and it was quite calm even with the roof down.

There's always a place for speed on the race track - why risk your health or your license on public roads? (Or I should see if I can meet up with someone who build roads so that I can use it before it's opened to public)

LOL Joe.
Yes, one would definitely get ones car impounded and maybe even cop a custodial sentence at that sort of speed. That's why I did a recon run first to make sure the road was clear of potential 'hazards'. Next time I go back to that bit of road I want to bring a friend and get him to video me zooming pass from the side of the road. Should look and sound awsome!

I have gotten to 210-220kmh (GPS speed) many times at Sandown. In fact twice every lap, and I have done at least 100 odd laps at Sandown with this car, so that is many times. Lol. I am keen to see how it behaves at 250kmh. Btw, 240kmh at the speedo is probably only 225 or so kmh? The speedo is very inacurate at that sort of speeds.

Maybe it is due to speedo inaccuracy as mentioned by Way....

What type of GPS are you using? Must get one if available.

It's an old Garmin StreetPilot 2610. Chunky but very rugged and water resistant. Incidentally, this unit is rebadged and sold by BMW as Motorrad Navigator for BMW bikes.

As I don't know much about using GPS for speed calculations, is this a standard function on most GPS units? Thanks PS. I'd swap our long straight (boring) country roads for your windy Tasmanian ones any day!
