My 1 should be here in about a week, but...

I still haven't sold my car, and that is what i am using for the down payment. My question is how long will they wait for me to sell my car, they cant sell my 1 to someone else can they? I already gave them the $1000 deposit.

I guess at this point your options are Carmax or see if they will take it in trade.

Carmax gave my buddy a pretty good deal for his RSX... They are generally pretty fair and they cut get yout a draft check the same day.

CarMax will usually give you more for the car than you would get in trade-in, but if you have state sales tax, you have to take the sales tax savings into account that you would get by trading it. It is usually a wash in my experience.

most dealers rip you off on your trade-in value. it's a common trick to give you a great deal on the new car, but make all their profit from ripping you off on the trade in (don't ever give them the keys to your old car before making sure EVERYTHING is to your liking on the new one.. you'll be surprised at how fast they "lose" the keys). you'd probably be better off selling your car somewhere else and using that money for the down payment. it might even net you a bit of pocket money!

Tax credit alone says you should trade it in. It was better for me to trade my car in than to sell it outright.

Is your current car a 325i? I know BMW is going to give you a better deal than Carmax! Call them and find out. Good luck.

Not always... BMW offered my buddy 9k for his RSX and Carmax offered 13k. Perhaps its case by case...

I traded. Went to CarMax and got a quote, then went into the dealer and let them offer me something on my MINI. Ended up being the same as what CarMax wanted to give me, and I saved the taxes. No-brainer...
