Buying oem parts from UK

Just FYI.
Given the weak British pound, and the fact that our cars are closer to their spec than US spec, I have decided to order parts from UK. I got this info from e90 post: http://www.bmminiparts.com/

Ordered a tail light for my X5 which I accidentally cracked, and two tweeter covers for the 1. Came to just over $300 including postage. I was qouted $470 for the tail light and I think $120 each for the tweeter cover. So saving of more than 50%, as long as they arrived intact.

Hmmm..... That would make the carbon fibre interior A$913 including shipping if their site is correct, very tempting! Much more tempting than the $3,500 I was quoted by BMW Australia

Thanks for that mate. Looks really interesting.

Only problem now is not going overboard with the bits and pieces. That BMWP Intake is calling!

I haven't checked the postage for heavier item, but for a tail light and 2 small pieces of interior trims they are around 21 pounds, not bad. Now fingers crossed that I actually receive them.

They look pretty legit and as long as it's packed decently it should be good. Big problem with stuff like the Intake, Exhaust is the bulkiness of the item rather than the actual weight.

Please keep us posted on the condition and delivery times.

I tried the performance exhaust, and the postage by "Global Express" is 228 pound, so total around $1126AUD, a bit less than from US. Hmmm, tempting. The postage is less by sea.

$1126 is a pretty damn good price no matter how you look at it. Sea mail will take ages so if you are going to do it, might as well pay a little more for air. Any idea who Global Express is???

No idea, and I am not sure if it is door to door or pickup from airport, which may incur several hundred dollars of extra charges. May be you can be the guinea pig, order one and see how you go?

I hate being the guinea pig - damn rodents! But when my Internet finally gets setup at my new place. Using my iPhone at the moment. I'll sit down and order a few other bits and see what's what!

update

Got my stuff today.
Ordered on 25/3, got email saying they were sent on 2/4, received them today.

Would recommend them, shipping is reasonable if you are getting non bulky items. Great saving. Good website, you get instant shipping qoute, rather than having to pm the vendor.

That's a great site, thanks

I just checked out the performance intake, it's $713AUD delivered to my door whilst tischer(getbmwparts.com) want $725USD for the intake alone and they don't ship internationally anymore either

Yes it is a great site i have been looking at it for a while haven't found a m3 control arm suspension kit yet on there web site.
i priced up ECS TUNING and there prices are very cheap also will be ordering the m3 front control arm kit and m3 rear sway bar shortly for my 335.
All the 4 control arms and headlight adjustment rod and rear m3 sway bar bushings and 2 brackets come to $915 aud delivered to my door.
To buy the sway bay and bushings from BMW is over $500.

Brought a Carbonfibre spoiler off "Oceanbreeze752" from Ebay - they are the Ocean Plymoth BMW dealership - link: http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/Ocean...__W0QQ_armrsZ1

Very happy with sale, picked the spoiler up for ~$460 AUD + Postage, much better than the $1100 I was quoted from my local dealership... Came with all of the resin, cleaner, etc. needed for self install, might go get busy now

NJL, awesome purchase mate, congrats! Should look sweet!

bmw135fan, Ocean Breeze, is the dealer to which I gave you the email. I found them on eBay when I bought the iPhone plug-in adaptor on eBay - $100 as opposed to the $300 BMW quoted!

NJL, check out the post's website for your next purchase, cos it's actually cheaper than the Mark's prices. That said you got an awesome price for your spoiler!
