Advice for waxing and polishing a white car
This is the first white car I've even owned and I'm looking for advice for what methods and products to use to clean the paint, wax and polish.
The paint is in pretty good condition, with some minor swirl marks. Thanks! |

Asking wax questions is dangerous....everyone has their own opinion.
For me....I like Maguiars products. For a car with good paint. 1. Clay bar it 2. Maguiars #7 show car polish 3. Maguiars #26 carnuba wax Apply with a porter cable or dewalt random orbiter suggest low RPM setting such as 1000 or 1200. Use a gentle foam pad (low abrasiveness), no need for a cutting pad. |

Cheap wax looks bad, doesn't last and is hard to use. Get some good towels. I got some Meguires waxing microfibre cloths and they seem to work really good. There are other good ones out there (go to the autopia website). Clay baring is simple and effective. Watch the how to video on the Meguires site..very simple! Get a good cleaner/swirl remover and wax (most swear by Zaino, I have good luck with Meguires). Another good option is to do some research on Griot's Garage website. They have lots of complete waxing kits.

I just used Zaino Z2, Z6/ZFX, and clay bar on my AW and my wife's white CR-V. It turned out very well and was a lot easier than the multi-coating process sounds. In fact, her boss saw her CR-V and was like :eyebulge:.

i wont get into the details and product recommendations, there are a lot of excellent DIY guides on this forum. but a couple of things to consider:
some people buy white because they think it's the easiest color to maintain/keep clean. nothing could be further from the truth. it hides light dust ok, but anything else immediately makes it start looking grimy when waxing you need to look at panels from a side angle and out of direct sunlight. or else you'll miss a whole lot. that's pretty much it. detailing a white car is pretty much the same as detailing other colors. |
