Wouldn't 245/40 be closer to the original total height.

I think it will be right on the strut in the front, might need a small spacer. And then will rub the fender until you add camber somehow. In the rear it will probably run fine until you carry passengers and hit a bump. Tire brand will also make a big difference. If I were gonna try it I'd use Nitto N555's.

245/40 is the proper tire spec.

I was able to run ET40 w/out a spacer upfront on aftermarket suspension with no issues.

You need camber on front and rear for the wheel to fit. You're pushing it if you don't have camber.

Running your current specs, do you think you're able to fit a 17x9.0 et42 up front with 255/40R17?

Sorry for the thread jack OP.

ET42 would be grinding up against the shock strut.

I ran them all winter so I expect that.

The compression and rebound are perfect, not seized or anything. So I'm not concerned

No, the TCKs, how long have you had them? That rust looks bad man, TCK DAs are good dampers, luckily it didn't effect them in any other way, but still . . .

Oh.

Had them for a year now. Rust was from winter. Honestly the strut just needs to come off and get a good cleaning. Damper is still 100% functional

So a 235/40 square set up would work on 17x8.5 et40?

I believe the 40 sidewall is too small on a 235. I think proper fitment is 235/45 but I could be wrong

With camber plates and M3 arms, you can get our 17x8.5" ET40 ARC-8 wheel to fit up front. That can be used with either 245/40/17's or 255/40/17's. The back of the car will be a problem, but the front of the car will have some rubbing. Using the 17x8.5" ET40 even with a 245/40/17 in the rear will rub without fender rolling. This is due to the car having unusually high rear offsets (the stock 8.5" wheel has a 52mm offset). The 1-series racers run our 17x8.5" wheel with 255/40/17 square, but they were willing to mess with the rear fenders beyond just a simple roll.

The 265's in 17" cannot happen at all, and the 265's are already extremely rare to come in 17" diameter so they would also be very pricey. The 265/35/18 could only be run on our 9.5" ET62 or ET58 1 series rear wheels. Running the 9.5" rear wheel would create a stagger, which is not what you are looking for, and running the 9.5" wheel in the front is not possible due to the limitations of the car's fenders and suspension. Because of the limitations of the 1-series, using a 275/35/18 squared is out of the question without a widebody kit on the front.

Will 17X8.5 with ET50 fit a 128i?

Soon to be (hopefully) 128i owner, wondering if old square my Style 68 wheels, ET 50 with 245/40 autocross rubber will fit? I see from this site that many are competing in STX catagory, but I want get comfortable with the car in F-Stock for now. I think I may not be allowed to use spacers in Stock.

THanks

FYI, those wheels are not legal in stock class at all, as the 128 never came with 8.5" wheels, front or rear. They bump you right into STX as is. You'll need between 8-12mm of spacer up front, depending on your shocks, and about -2* camber front and rear to make it fit.

Good luck in STX.
