DIY chrome kidney grills

I know, most of you (expecially the US guys) won't like chrome and will disapprove this mod; many of you will think that's not worth a while, since the OEM chrome grills aren't that expensive. But I like chrome, I think that it fits perfect on my grey E82 and I just want to try a cheap way to see if the chrome grills look fine on my car.

That's why, after reading about it on an italian bimmer forum, I bought this 3.40€ (discounted ) chromed metallic tape:

I removed and cleaned the grills, and finally chromed!

Before/after:

Both chromed:

No grills:

Chrome grills:

I love it, you have to be very close to notice the difference with the OEM one! And only for 3.40€.

I love it! Question though... how the hell did you put it over the existing black? Does it just slip over it?

Nice little mod! Better than painting!

Can't say I'm a big fan of the chrome, but I admire your initiative. Good job!

The tape is sticky. The guys from the italian forum said that it's still sticking after months and despite of washing, let's see what happens. At worst, I will finally buy the OEM grill.
