Little bit...

Was more a comment about how BMW doesn't ever do anything logically... You work for them in their largest market and yet my dealer's had the official info for a couple of weeks...

We normally have to wait forever to get anything down here...

(there was also a little bit of "haha, we got something first for a change" in there... but only a little)

Also, I haven't actually tried to buy it so it's more than possible that although we have the info we can't actually get it yet...

Is this different than what United BMW was offering a year and a half ago?

Some like the warranty insurance even though nothing bad will happen with either the BMW or JB Boost.

Did you ever drive home drunk and hit a deer? Sometimes shit happens.

Have fixed it now...
OK, $560 it is. Roundel listed $550. I'll pay $450 with my CCA discount. If they charge labor, I'll take a walk.

Go to any dealer, ask them to pull up bmw performance parts on the parts computer...it should be listed there...they might need your VIN number...

Here is some info. Reportedly, it is the same for the 135i, but I haven't confirmed that.

Not $500.

Any pics of the grill and badge?

I spoke with my Service Adviser and he told me it was $130 as well. That includes labor AND coding. So.. $500+ seems pretty steep.. I already have the Stage 2 on my N55 so I don't need this but I called just to see what the deal was.

Honestly, $130 for an OEM tune upgrade sounds reasonable to me!

I just got off the phone with Davis Automotive Group (Cleveland BMW) and after 10 minutes of waiting he gave me a wishy-washy price and details.

$2001 + labor (he didn't know) + tax...The package included:

1: New oil cooler
2: New air-ducting
3: New Fan
4: Software upgrade

I asked if there was JUST a software upgrade. He said, "No." I didn't want to press the issue b/c he really seemed...uhhh not knowledable. He said they have never done a BMW power kit upgrade. I reiterated that I have a N55. He said they've been out for both N55 and N54 and no one has been interested in it. He said they have done a lot of Dinan stuff. I asked...No N55 software updates from Dinan. Lame

But at $2001 + labor + tax = A Texas turndown...EL PASSOOO

Maybe he's another unaware dealership monkey. subscribed

Update...

Called Classic BMW in the Cleveland area.

Talked to both a service guy and parts guy. Service guy had less than ZERO CLUE about the kit. Never even heard of it.

The parts guy was an enthusiast. This is where it gets really fuzzy.

The parts catalog stated:
Software upgrade only: You have to replace the entire DME. $985 + labor (didn't know) + tax. Can't just reflash it.

Power Kit:
Oil Cooler
Air-Ducting
New Fan
Software upgrade (or upgraded DME): $2167 + labor (didn't know) + tax.

After a little cross-checking with a Memo-to-Dealer type thing. The guy said, "This is odd!"

The software only option is $599 + labor (didn't know) + tax.

The Power Kit option is $1200 + labor (didn't know) + tax.

VERY ODD INDEED. "Why the difference?" I asked how could I find out the labor before I bring my car in?

After a little more cross-checking...It got fuzzier.

most comes down to what DME you have. If you have the MSD80, you NEED a new DME (which costs more). If you have the MSD81, you DONT need a new DME.

He went with a price guessing that I have the MSD81 DME. Since I have the M-Sport bumper of $2851 + tax. That includes 9 hours of labor.

Also, since I probably have the MSD81, the software upgrade only would be the $599 + labor (couldn't find) + tax.

He said he doesn't know much about it b/c most people order the power kit or software upgrade with their car not afterward. I was never given the option. I'd pay $500 more for 20 more HP/Tq. What's $500 on a $40000 car.

Anyways...i'm exhausted. I'm still not clear on what it would be out the door. Stay tuned.

I'm afraid. It almost seems like there is no telling what you will get, or what it will cost. The review in the link I posted (for a 3-series, but how different can it be, for a flash?) listed $1200, including labor and taxes, negotiated down from $1300. The poster said that was with two hours of labor. Maybe that person had to get a new DME?

BTW, thanks for all the digging. If you end up with part numbers, it would be great to get those. :-)

So I contacted one of the dealerships I work for and gave them the part # looks like my cost with taxes will be $891 with a free install... Which isn't too bad, but I have some questions, will I be downgrading power since im already running JB+ or will I be able to run the JB3 or maybe even my JB+ on top of the BMW tune?
