Thumbs up Workshop Review - Fulcrum Suspension - Stafford - A+

Hi guys I wanted to share my experience with a suspension workshop that has been working on my 135i the past few months. I went to Fulcrum Suspension at Stafford and dealt with Terry who is the manager there.

Firstly, I cannot speak highly enough of Terry's customer service and commitment to please me as a customer. He explained everything to me in layman's terms, was accommodating of my schedule and provided me with a great price. He is also a great guy and has been in the industry for quite some time.

During my first visit I had my KW V2 Coilovers installed with a wheel alignment. Terry openly admitted that they had limited experience working on European cars as there isn't much demand for it but was confident to do the installation. When I picked the car up I found that the rear ride height was a couple millimetres too high and the workshop told me that unfortunately this was a low as it could go. I consulted the forum and it turned out the stock top mounts were not removed and this was an easy fix and common during installations on our cars. Many people don't even bother removing them but because I wanted the rear to sit nice and low I ended up taking the car back.

When I showed Terry the photos he knew exactly what I was talking about and booked me back in straight away at a suitable time for me, took the stock top mounts off and did another wheel alignment and the car was good to go. The final outcome was nothing less than perfect. Terry told me he wanted to get it right not only for my satisfaction but also to gain experience for future jobs.

On my second visit I had the front M3 sway bar installed with another wheel alignment. Same deal as before, I was looked after again and the install went perfectly. These guys do a great job on the wheel alignment and seem to specialise in setting up sports cars as each time I go there there are a few being worked on.

Anyways, I just wanted to share my positive experiences with Fulcrum Suspension at Stafford as I know there is a lack of quality workshops in Brisbane as opposed to Sydney or Melbourne. I've been there a few times and every time they've gone the distance to make me happy. Also, they've assured me they are very confident to work on the 1 series now too.

If you're thinking about doing anything suspension related including a basic wheel alignment, drop in or at least give them a call. They are usually quite busy but they do their best to fit you in. Make sure you speak to Terry and drop my name and I'm sure he will look after you.

Great write up. If they can fit tyres then I'll definitely take my car there when the new hoops arrive next week.

No worries. As I said, speak to Terry and drop my name and he'll look after you. You're going to love your RE-11's. Great tyre choice

Sounds good, thanks.
I'm not sure that you needed another alignment after fitting the new sway bar though. Sway bar should have no effect unless there is a cornering force or the car is not sitting on a flat surface.

No worries Tim. I agree it wasn't necessary after the sway bar install but I'd clocked up quite a few km's since the coilovers were put in so I did it anyway. I've been told the car is barely drivable after you install the M3 front control arms so I'll definitely need an alignment when I do that later down the track.

A mate of mine has taken his Falcon there a few times and has always had good reports. Good to know there's a good auto business out there.

I'll be visiting RX Automotive later this week or early next week myself

Hey BMW86, have you experienced any problems with KW coilovers after installation?

I've had no problems whatsoever with the KW V2's. I'm stoked with this setup

Just spoke to Fulcrum about installing my Eibach Pro Kit. They want $400 for installation and front/rear alignment.

This seems excessive to me...

After you shop around I think you'll find that price very good plus it includes an alignment too. Installation isn't cheap

I heard about this as well. Not sure which Fulcrum it is as I think they're independent. I know Michael had his KW fitted at another Fulcrum too.

You're right... Got another 3 quotes - $440 - $520...

Price + Vin's recommendation = Done.

You won't be disappointed Angus. Make sure you speak to Terry and mention my name and he'll look after you. The price is also reasonable because he's familiar with our setups so takes less time and he's trying to look after us 1ers.
