Count your lucky stars: "WA/OR sucks" ??? Try driving in Los Angeles. WA/OR has all the great stuff: the gorge for windsurfing, cascades for skiing, awesome roads for bimmering, ...

Any detailed info. regarding Bimmerfest? It appears to be run by Bimmer magazine. I am curious about how it compares to the BMW (*******CCA Oktoberfest as regards events, tech. sessions, vendors, etc.

it's not by bimmer magazine. it was founded by jon shafer years ago, when he still worked at cutter motors in santa barbara (now bmw of santa barbara).

14 hours from seattle????????????????
sounds like non-stop 130mph autobahn time.

It took about 16 hours from portland to LA(korean town).
Thats accounting all the breaks, and reasonable speeding.

I'll see what I can do. but with university courses getting real serious these days, I probably won't have enough time.

Make sure to post some pics though!!!!!!!

It's difficult (maybe it is just me) to determine what Bimmerfest offerws from the web site. Is it simply a gathering? Anything else? Tech sessions? Track sessions? Seminars? Etc.?

there's a bmw group that comes down from washington and oregon every year. they hook up with the sf bay area bmw crew, and then head down to santa barbara together.

it started off as just a small gathering of enthusiasts. it keeps growing every year. in the past, they've had it at the santa barabara dealership, but in the past couple of years, they've out grown it. this year they're having it at earl warren showgrounds to accomidate everybody. tech sessions? not really. i have seen a couple simple how-to demo's, but that's about it. track sessions, no. no track. lunch is usually free. and at the end, there's the road rally, where they have a set course through some hilly backroads, and everybody goes on it. it's basically a huge line of bimmers. no racing of course, and the chp does keep a close eye on what's going on. but it's basically just a big meet, for enthusiasts to show what they got and hang out with each other. before the road rally they also have a raffle of donated prizes though a lot of different companies, and the proceeds of the ticket sales always goes to a charity. at that time they also announce the winner of the battle of the bimmers, which is kinda car show like.
