Roads and traffic suck anymore and rarely find places to truly have fun in the 1 anymore. I considered trading for a used Cayman S or 911 but decided it wasn't worth the loss. If I looked again it would either be one of those two or GTR, C7 Vette something along those lines.
Realistically I'm thinking about just picking up something like an old 1st Gen RX7 adding roll cage, minimal custom interior, wide body and a lightweight turbo engine set to about 300HP and having something lightweight that can really have fun on the back roads.

I stayed with the 1 series and bought an X1 X Drive 28i. Much more room but I REALLY miss the sport seats and engine of the 135i.

Is it one of the older ones? If yes it's more of a truck, and as such is functional. Even the newer ones are still good. Probably one of the only exceptions to the rule out there.

If money were no concern, Cayman gt4.
realistically, lightly used FRS, throw on a supercharger and go hoon it around the local drift scene. An e46 m3 would be up there too.

I'm thinking about selling mine and getting an e46 m3 plus some sort of beater. Newer BMW's just depreciate too fast (except the damn 1M) and I'm cheap and don't like losing money. Also I just don't really like anything BMW makes newer than my car.

My 135i is my dual duty week-end and track car. Ive put a few thousands on it to make it to more powerful and track worthy. Would be hard to justify selling it to get something as interesting and raw.
Depending on my physical health, financial health, my next car could be: From least to most expensive: 1- E46 M3 (tuned for the track), 2- E92 M3 (tuned for the track), 3- MKVII Golf GTI with Performance Package (electronic dampers, real LSD, bigger brakes, Max Perf summer tires, +10HP). 4- MKVII Golf R 5- M2 6 - 997 911 variant 7- Cayman GT4 Why the hot hatch choice? My best buddy just got a brand new 6-speed manual 2015 MKVII GTI, and it absolutely rocks. It could use a little more power from an APR or UNITRONIC tune. I strongly advised my friend to get the Performance Pack which he did, even if he does not track the car. The LSD + stability control turns the car into almost an "AWD-ish" stable platform. Fit and finish of this car are simply stunning. Here are crappy pics taken from my cell ...

You say that until you start turning up the boost. FWD and lots of power don't mix particularly well. This is especially true in a track setting because you're trying to power the same wheels you're using for turning.
