how the hell do you get all those exciting proposals, girl?

remember that nothing in this world is free. i'd say, if you're not planning on giving HIM the whole 9 while you're there (since he's basically buying you), then don't go.

also, since you're a girl, unless you're completely comfortable being with him alone in a different country on a different continent for 7 - 10 days, hence, unless you know him and trust him well enough (there are just too many stories of a good guy turning psycho), then i wouldn't go.

i just don't wanna see you on Dateline NBC as one of their "Searching for Bella" stories while they guy will be watching it in his 450K condo with fake tears in his eyes and your blood still under his fingernails...

My only suggestion is have a back out plan. If things go great, great. If things turn sorrow, have enough money in a Credit Card for 3 days and your flight back home. Also make sure you always carry you Passport!

Anyway- honestly, him turning out to be a weirdo isnt whats holding me back. I can tell hes a genuine guy. Its the fact that, well, its kinda soon. I mean we just started hanging out and we're planning a trip. I mean i was with my x for 2 yrs and we never did anything like this. Then again, he had no money to even take me to disneyland. hahah.

Yep...that is the tough part.

Like I said before...even good friends can get on each others nerves when it comes to going on trips. Its just the nature of traveling..you know, deciding what to do, making schedules, getting ready in a timely manner, going out at night, etc. Anyways, good luck making your decision. It would be nice to go somewhere fun before you start your program.

BTW...you wanna go to Mexico??

I don't know Bella, I think it's kinda nice. He's obviously rich, so being spontaneous and dropping $7000 going to italy, isn't such a big deal. I think it would be unfair to go - if you were just in it for a free trip to italy, however if you like the guy - and think he's cool and want to go for a good holiday and have a good time it's great.

I don't think he's "specifically" buying you. People with alot of money can be very generous at times - not expecting sex or something in return. Maybe he just wants to goto Italy, have fun with a good girl and that is that. If you were more interested, I doubt he would complain.

It's definately a great way of seeing if you two are compatible. A whole week together with definately let you get to know him fast. I think it's great!

If he's a good guy, from a good family and he is genuine, I would trust your instincts and go :-) Maybe meet his family, and try get to know everyone better in the meantime - just to ease your stresses!

Not necessarily...I know when I took my ex to Disney about 3 years ago and I spent about 2500 total, I took like $200 from her just so that she didn't feel that she didn't put a single dime in...Especially since that was during the beginning of the relationship. When I took her to Vegas for her bday last summer, I took nothing...but thats because we were far more into it at that point...

I understand what you are saying, but from where I come from its similar to a totem pole. I am 17 and I am the low man, so i gotta do stuff thats dirty (yes it sux), BUT I cant give my uncs money when we go out, for the life of me.... Its impossible...

i'm using this example solely for a girl...not for family or friends....and yeah i took the 200 from my ex, but it went right back to her for her bathing suit when we got there..lol...so nope..I didn't feel bad. Plus when I pay for everything we did everyday for 5 years, I really don't think she ever thought of that $200..the damn girl is worth 40g's easily. Lesson learned....Don't get a girl and in 5 years, buy a e90!

1) Who cares what other people are saying. Is this proposition ok with you? Can you live with it? Are the financial terms (and what's "assumed") something you have to think twice about? If not, go for it. If yes, then go. You have come across as a self-reliant person that does not need to rely on anyone for anything. Why compromise that for something as trifle (taken in the greater context of things) as a week's trip to Italy. But if you truly know yourself and it's all good, why not go?
2) The money's not the issue, not how much he has or how little (in comparison) you have. The issue is you and who you are. That's the only question that needs to be answered.
3) What's the over/under on the number of posts to this thread? 155 by May 22nd 12:00AM EST? The line has been set.
