225/35/18 and 255/40/18

Anyone running a similar setup? I have a smoking deal for some PS2's but they are in those two sizes. Will be on Breyton gts-r wheels and lowered on kw v3's

I read some people saying the rears are too tall, others saying they are fine. I assume the fronts are fine because they just have a shorter sidewall. My question is the 40 sidewall on the rear too tall and will rub? What is it.... 12.75 mm taller, or around .5 inch??

It should be the opposite. 225/40/18 and a 255/35/18.

Agreed...I think that you have your dimensions bass-ackwards.

no, the tires for sale are 225/35/18 and 255/40/18 yes they are backwards to what every is running for sidewall % heights, but they are the only two sizes available. Curious if the rears will rub or not.

Rear to front sidewall proportion will be out of whack. 225/35 will be almost like rubber band on wheel, while 255/40 will look meaty.

The PS2 in question here has more load carrying capacity than the OE run-flat tire which, by the way, is not an XL tire.

I think rear will rub and OD's are weird, but the weight rating of the tire is not a concern here.

Maxnix, I've seen you post a few times that you prefer XL ratings for non-RFT's, what's your theory with this? Is it that you expect sidewalls to be stiffer with higher load ratings, or something else?

Like Gill has stated, the 255/40 rears are tall and will cause rubbing issues during compression. I would not recommend purchasing them.
