What Happens if You Don't Reset Oil Change Indicator?

I have and plan on keeping with a 5000 mile OCI. I'm currently at 9,700 and the indicator says I should change in 2,700. I was going to do one myself at 10,000 and get my first free one by dealer at 15,000. But by then I'll be 2600 mile past the indicator - will that give me any weird warnings?

I think on every start up it'll tell you it needs oil service but you can clear it each time. It's annoying but i wouldn't clear it in case the dealership goes by it.

Yea, I didn't plan on resetting it. But was wondering what dealer would think as to why I waited so long even though I had done it more frequently if anything.

Just explaining things to a SA is a hassle.

If the car says it needs an oil change, won't the dealer do it for free regardless of whether or not it has hit 15k yet?

Yes but I'd like to stick to a 5k OCI, not 5k, 7.7k, 5k and so on.

disregard that slap in the back of the head after the first 107 and 1/3 miles after the light comes on. you will get over it.
