This car isn't for everyone even with the good reviews. The ride is harsh, dealers are asking stupid money, and the way 90% of people drive they will never notice the advantage over a 135 other than for posing.

Even if someone is in the small % that this car is actually designed for, who would fault them for reconsidering after reading that review? Her reaction should be totally expected, especially if you haven't seen other reviews.

After reading her post, you could have said something like:

See? Constructive, educational, and doesn't make you sound like a defensive 12 year old... Think about it.
Dude, get over yourself. You just sound like a pompous windbag.

Also, I suggest waiting till you've actually received your 1M before trying to sound like such an authority on its various characteristics such as ride quality and difference from a 135. You might sound like less of a windbag.

Finally, Julians response even though he/she has his/her facts wrong and doesn't like being corrected? Well, call us a bunch of biased BMW koolaid drinking fanbios blinded by the 1M hype because we own the car.

Yeah I'm the 12 year old.
Those who don't own one will never understand they can call me whatever they want, but I can't put this koolaid down

Thank goodness, my brakes sure felt fine at Barber Motorsports park, I might have had to put one cup down lol.

Back on topic: If I had to do over in my position now (after driving a 1M and comparing to a 135), I would probably pay around 5-7k extra....I would just remove some options so that I'm not paying 60k+ for a 1M. At a 60k+ price tag, I would more likely consider an M3 over a 1M (but never the 135...sorry, that's just my opinion). I think ALL dealers are charging over MSRP now, so if you want one....JUST DO IT!

I never really understood the rationalization of considering an M3 past the $60k mark, when one can be had today, brand new (including incentives) for low to mid 50's decently equipped. Either get one or the other depending on which car you like better, but the whole "well, past 60K I'll just opt for an M3" thing is getting old. In fact, I wouldn't be happy with an M3 if you sold it to me for $50k flat....it simply isn't the car for me, as I'm sure it may not be the car for others.

I could roll with a new E90 M3 sedan at 50K for a little while.. but I agree.. it was a distant second for me.. I was considering picking up one used in the low 40K range if I couldn't get the 1M.. The Z4 M was tempting but not really the right car.. haven't driven a Cayman yet.

FWIW, had I not obtained a 1M, I'd have bought a current model Cayman S.

The E9x M3 just doesn't do it for me.

I can actually agree with this. I say that just because the cars are very similar in ways. They're also very different in others. I think you need to take my statement in context though; I was talking about IF the 1M wasn't available...then what? M3 would most likely be on my short"er" list at that point.

Understood and agreed. In the lack of existence of the 1M, the M3 would be on my list for consideration.

I'm happy with my 135convertible with sport pkg I picked up for 30k with only 8k miles. I'm hoping there is a m3 sedan in my future. 20k over MSRP for an 2011 car in November of 2011...No Thank You!
The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Drive the 1M and your 135 back-to-back and let us know about your findings. Apart from that, enjoy your 135.

The problem with that is that we've run out of pudding so s/he is just going to have to imagine what it tastes like, or read about other people's opinions lol

Someone who really understands what the 1M is for BMW. It was a GREAT experiment for the manufacturer. They tried two things that have recently been very "non-BMW". They A). threw turbo's into one of their beloved M cars, and B). they reconnected the driver with the car driving experience.

I think that if you're a BMW enthusiast [or just a car enthusiast in general], you'll really get a kick out of this months Bimmer magazine; article entitled "The Fun One".

So to answer your question: I think that someone who appreciates what the 1M is for BMW, and understands how limited it's productions numbers are (only <700 in the US)...well...THAT's who would buy this car for a premium! Then again, this same someone would have to have had their head up their @SS for the past year (or in denial), because if they really understood what the car for BMW, then they'd already have it in their garage (and most likely for MSRP).

All I can say is management is choosing to ask that.

You can offer whatever you'd like and I'll bring it in...

I'm not a fan of huge markups at all - and I'll fight for it...

10k might do it...
